The island consists of two sections, the kitchen/sink side and the bar/seating side. Overall the dimensions are: 82.75"W x 64"D. The side that faces the kitchen measures 82.75"W x 46"D X 36"H, while the bar side measures 82.75" x 18"D X 39"H. The slight difference in height from section to section gives each side ample height for it's intended purpose and creates a subtle division between the two sections.

Are there brackets holding up the bar side of the counter?

Yes, the bar side of the counter has a number of "L-shaped" bars integrated into the base in order to support the weight of the bar top. Unlike a traditional "triangle" bracket they do not protrude into the leg space under the counter, but in order to properly support the counter and appear "invisible" they were engineered with proper weight specifications in mind.
