Thanks in advance

Here is some info, I'm pretty sure it's not AKC, thus a Mutt.

I found that info and picture but that doesn't look like the other picture that my friend has seen. It didn't have that flat of a face. It didn't have that long of a coat either. Thanks for the info.

Google it. Mutt from backyard breeder. Don't waste your money. Odorless????

You might look into a toy poodle. They have similar attributes RE the shedding and odor and the size too.

Why do you say this breed is a mutt? Just because someone crosses different breeds to get another desired type of dog doesn't necessarily mean the result is a mutt! How do you think most of the purebred dogs began? They came from breeding more than one type of dog to get something more desirable! And just because a breed isn't "recognized" by the AKC,doesn't make it any less purebred. Granted,I do believe some people have gone overboard with the cross breeding in some cases but hey, people pay big bucks for those dogs! Yes,there are "backyard" breeders and one has to be careful in that respect, but there are also many reputable breeders out there. And who is to say that these "Mutts" as you call them, wouldn't be just as desirable a pet as an AKC approved dog? I have had "purebred" dogs that I wouldn't give you 2 cents for, and the best little dog I ever had was a "mutt",bred in someones back yard.Mother was a "purebred" Chinese pug and the father.......was who knows?
Casey, just google "Mi-Ki dog breed" and you will get lots of sites for information on this breed. From what I understand, just from the little that I have found so far, there are different coat types, some long and some short, as well as facial structures,so this breed could very well be what you are talking about. They are really cute little dogs but too rich for my budget!LOL ..........Lillie

Definition of Mutt: Mixed breed dog.

Definition of Purebred dog: A dog whose sire and dam belong to the same breed and who are themselves of unmixed descent since recognition of the breed.

Since this dog is NOT of descent of a recognition of a breed, it is still considered a mutt. I know this subject has been gone over before. In the US, if it is not an purebred dog (meaning AKC recognized), and is a combination of two different breeds, no matter how cute (and often they are VERY CUTE), they are a mutt, and MUTT is not a derogitive term, just a term.

This dog is not AKC regonized, it does not breed true (As even defined by the OP, the dog she is talking about, though fitting the definition, does not define the look. Thus it is not breeding true (YET, there is nothing saying the breed will not eventually breed true, become AKC recognized and no longer be difined as a MUTT - how do you think new breeds become recognized, it is the breeding true that is the definition).

Okay I read someone elses link to the Mi-KI. These dogs ARE NOT MUTTS, but purebreds, just not of an AKC recognized breed, but a UKC recognized breed that the AKC has not recognized yet. I wonder how long it takes each to recognize a breed, and why the difference.

I do still stand by my definition of mutt though.

My friend has 9 Miki's ! They all look slighty different . They're adorable...and with all those dogs in her house - I don't smell one bit of odor.

That's OK susan.I guess I got a little snippy too!LOL I can understand that you though Casey may have been being conned.I did look at a lot of different breeder's sites and most seemed to be reputable. These little dogs have been around for along time but just as with any other breed there are those breeders that aren't always on the up and up.I certainaly wouldn't pay that much for any dog though,no matter how cute,or odorless! It would at least have to be housebroken and know how to use toilet paper!LOL
Casey-I e-mailed one breeder and asked some questions about the breed. She answered me back and said she has 2 little females that the price has been reduced on,I think she said they were $600. & $800.If you want her name I'll give it to you.Let me know.......Lillie

Thanks for all the info, guys! I will pass on the information you all have provided. This lady saw a picture in a sales paper. She said that they were expensive. Like lillie said, these dogs are all going to look a little different and have different coats. I think that still happens in purebred dogs too.

Susan - You are right!!!!! There are too many good dogs (mutts & purebreeds) in shelters because of "backyard" breeders. I got my cocker from my sister-in-law. She was breeding cockers to make some money. That didn't go like she planned it to. She ended up giving the puppies away. I found our second dog. I have no clue what she is. She has what I would call the body type of a lab, she is between 45-50# and she is brindle (mostly a chocolate color with some orange barring) with a medium? hair coat. Then our third dog was given to us. He is a beagle. Some one dumped him and the other people took him in until he was given to us. I think he was maybe someone hunting dog that was too gun shy. He can sure tree a cat, but he LOVES our pet rabbit. Go figure! You have to watch how you discipline him because he will pee himself. He is a sweet dog otherwise.
N E way. . . lillie if you want to send me that lady's info, I'll pass it along. I'll do somemore looking now that I have a "proper" name to go by.

The truth of the matter is that most people can't tell a mixed breed from a purebred. A lady was going to adopt a mixed lab from me one time, but changed her mind because her husband went and bought a purebred GS dog. She sent me pictures and my response to her was "I hope he didn't pay a lot for the dog, because GS dogs do not have big white spots on their chest." Needlss to say I didn't hear from her again. Poor thing. People who buy from back yard breeders are buying mutts, but because they come with AKC papers they think they are pure. Poor suckers! I wish my city would put those breeders out of business. They are the reason for the over crowded animal shelters. AKC just perpetuates the problem in their quest to make millions!! Originally the AKC was to preserve the breed. Now, you can register a litter of mice. As long as you send them money, they'll register anything, thus the mixed breeds being bred and sold as purebreds.

Hi! I own 2 Mi-Ki pups - brothers from the same litter. When looking for a dog that was condo-friendly, I almost gave up until I happend upon the Mi-Ki. I read good things about the breed and was impressed that they were quiet and could be "litter trained." They seemed to be perfect for my lifestyle. Yes, they were expensive, but they have been worth every penny! They are wonderful little dogs and I love them to death. They are not destructive, they never smell "doggy", they train easily, and are probably one of the most loving breeds you can find. My pups are 1-1/2 years old and one weighs 4 lbs. and the other 6 lbs. People always stop me to admire them and ask what kind they are. I always advocate rescuing a dog from a shelter, but I had to assure that the dog I picked would not be a bother to my downstairs neighbor so felt I should stick with a breed that I could reasonably expect to be quiet and well behaved. So anyone interested should be careful of their breeder, but you couldn't pick a sweeter dog. Also, I have never heard of a Gizmo Monkey!!

Hi Casey, I think this is the dog you're talking about! He is a Brussels griffon (short hair)
