Modern trees quilt

I somewhat followed Christa's blog for the Modern Trees Christmas quilt...I say somewhat for several reasons, first I did not do perfect points, so I'm ready to redo, and I used Kona snow and wished I used Kona white, but It was a fun quilt to make and I'm ready to make another. I also quilted all of the reindeer names in the quilt, but did it in white thread...after washing the quilt, I wished I had used a contrasting thread so they showed better. My DH said the kids (it's going to my nieces children, 5 and under) will have fun finding the names. I really like how the back turned out as I used extra blocks.
Sorry, I haven't figured how to post all pics in one post...still figuring that one out...pic of front and back to follow.

That is just so cute. I know they will love it. And, I love the colors. Finding the names will be their private secret and they will always remember.

One of my very first quilts were little trees like that, an Alex Anderson pattern, and nothing fit together right. I didn't know about bias edges and 1/4" seams and it sure can throw things off when you aren't accurate. At least now I've learned a bit bit I still cringe when I see that shape. Yours are inspiring.

No quilt police, and besides, your little trees are just fine! The kids will have fun with it. Isn't the difference between Kona Snow and Kona White amazing when compared to each other and other fabric? You'd think 'white as snow' would be the purest of white, but not with Kona. :-)

It is adorable. Kids love word finds. I always enjoy when an "error" turns out to be the perfect thing. I think if the names were in a darker color they would detract from the scene.

Val I love it! The fabric you chose for the binding is perfect. The names idea is really cute. Great gift idea!

Cute and the kids will love it. I have been using white to quilt on a WOW and find it very difficult to do. Congratulations on you efforts. I like the back strip as well. I have added similar strips to make the back fill and like the idea.

The kids will love finding the names in the quilting! It will be a huge hit!!! Very thoughtful.
A few years ago, for Christmas, I gave quilts to Grand nieces and nephews ranging in age from 5 - 17. I quilted their names in each of the quilts. Finding their stitched names was an unexpected thrill for everyone. It also gave them a bit more appreciation of the actual quilting as they, and some of the adults were in awe of the ability for me to personalize something I made. None of these kids have probably ever seen a sewing machine! Ipads yes! LOL
Your trees look good and I love the extra trees on the back.
    They will love it!

Valarie, your quilt is just as cute as can be. I love all the Christmas fabrics. It's almost a scrappy holiday quilt. Adding the names was a clever touch too. Very nice job.

That is so cute. I made a tree like that for a birthday block a few years back and remember it wasn't as easy as it looks. Great job.
