need a really good extraction fan but there's a catch

I have an open plan kitchen/dining/living room and my stove extraction fan is not doing it for me. On high it moves 400 cfm, which is not quite enough for cooking with. We have a gas stove and ovens so good extraction is important to me. Also, it's too loud for the space when it is shared with watching tv or entertaining. The catch is we only have space for a 30" under cabinet fan. I hope that someone can recommend a good fan for our situation. We are price sensitive to a point but high cfm low noise are more important factors.
Thanks!
