I love the contrast between the island and the peripheral countertops! Can you tell me what material you used on the periphery and if it is honed or polished? Thanks.

The periphery is a Absolute Black Granite - Honed - a very soft and luxurious texture.

This is a stunning kitchen! We are planning to use super white quartzite on the island and absolute black granite (honed) on the surrounding counters. Is this quartzite honed or polished?

The Super White quartzite in this kitchen is polished, only the black perimeter is honed. Some colors just don't look as good in a honed finish- I have never seen the Superwhite honed, but I suspect it might lose its depth that makes it so stunning.

We just installed similar countertops and I am hearing different views on how to clean. What does the homeowner use and how do they feel about the maintenance?

Charles603 - I do not know what these clients use to clean their tops. I would talk to your countertop fabricator for suggestions because they would know what type of sealer was used. I am a fan of natural products such as Mrs. Meyers countertop spray because they are not harsh or abrasive and they smell delicious. Target sells Mrs. Meyers countertop spray and the refills.

Beautiful kitchen. I'm using Super White Quartzite on my island, and BM simply white shaker caninets. I have a large cooktop backsplash. I was thinking of using 3"x8" cararra tile in herringbone -- would it compete with the island? once i decide the backsplash then i can choose the perimeter.

The nice thing about using the smaller tiles, like in this kitchen is the scales don't compete. When you are using similar looking materials, you typically don't want the size of the veins or pattern to be similar because you notice more easily that they are different. Could you choose a smaller size of carrera tile? I love the herringbone idea. Putting materials together is just like selecting your outfit for the day, you wouldn't wear thick striped pants with a thick striped top... if you love stripes, you might select a pin stripe to complement instead of match. I hope this helps.

Totally makes sense. I was just hesitant to use a smaller tile on that large an area. i notice in other pictures that people use asian statuary but i think that is warmer than the super white. thanks again
