Love the transformation!!! We moved into an 80's house and need to do the master bath also. It has the oak vanities, laminate counters, and carpeting (gross), disgusting jacuzzi bathtub, and no doors leading into the bathroom-although the shower and toilet are behind a door. Have 2 sons in college and a wedding reception to cover this year, so trying to be patient.....Love what you have done!

Thank you everyone, to answer some questions, the cabinets are painted with rustoleum black satin. The cabinets weren't removed for the tile, but the toe-kicks were tiled along the cabinets, as well as tile rather than base moulding. The shower doors were custom ordered from a local glass company.

Love the redo. Great job for DIY, as bathrooms require skill. Is that marble on your counters? Looks beautiful, but marble is awful for cleaning and retains rings where wet items are set down. I'm guessing it isn't since anyone doing this scale of DIY would know that. Fab job!

This looks great and I am sure did not happen overnight. Love it!

There are a last few little add ins I would recommend; changing out the terra cotta color bases for your plants something more modern maybe a silver color or white? My eye kept getting stuck there.

I am also curious what the area around the toilet looks like and the window behind, could you provide a picture of that too?

npsue, you're right, the counters are granite. Thank you for the compliments and suggestions! Bayle & Co., I will take some pictures around the toilet this evening. I wish Houzz would allow more than four pictures because I wanted to show the floor of the shower and some other shots.

I was able to find these pictures.. We are in the process of changing out the white doors and trim to a dark cherry color, and the window treatment has been removed.

Six2zero. Thanks for posting the additional pics. I've been watching bathroom remodels closely as we are hiring a contractor to gut and redo our en suite. Plan to meet with him next week. My spouse is capable of doing it himself but due to current work pressures, we decided to hire & I will oversee the renno. Love what you did but it won't work for us due to size of bathroom. Ours is smaller. I have a question - we have decided we will never move or sell our house. We just love it too much and have triple lot with gorgeous lakefront. So.....do I go a bit out of the cookie cutter norm,to retain resell value? Or, is it better to fix it up,in our style and taste and just love it's quirkiness? I've been battling a life threatening disease for 10 years now. I'm currently on a new chemo that is showing very positive results. I very well may be cured as all is pointing in my favor.

What would readers do, putting themselves in my place? Thanks.

Npsue: best wishes on your recovery! I say if you're never moving, to make the house yours, even if it's a little "quirky" as you say. We are preparing to sell so we are finishing up some upgrades. It'll be hard, since we built this house 23 yrs ago and really love it. But tired of the winters so we're moving south.

Thanks for posting additional pictures. What a tricky shaped window to work with and the one in the tub area. Fun peek a boo view though, so high up I the mountains it looks like. If nobody can see in the window by the toilet it might be fun to hang a terrarium there or air plant. Nice job, your hard work is paying off!

I'm speaking from a Realtor point of view; you are not planning to sell anytime soon anyway. Unless a property owner is in it just for the investment, with a definite goal of moving up/on, a house should be a home. marthagm2005, I used the Rustoleum kit in my master bath on 1982 oak cabinets and the process is very simple. Everything you need is in the kit. Very little prep work is required unless your cabinets are in poor condition, which mine were not, so I did not have to sand at all. The primer is provided so you can just get started! Very pleased with the results, and we are considering tackling the kitchen, especially after getting a bid from a professional painter for $6-7,000!!! And, the bathroom was done six months ago so we've had a chance to see how they've done with wear. No problems with chipping or peeling.
