If the porch is wooden joists underneath with a sub-floor layer you will need to add an additional layer of cement board on top of your sub-floor. The tile is then adhered to the cement board. If your porch is cement then a layer of anti-fracture membrane is recommend before laying the tile to prevent cracking.
