Help!!i bought these paddles but I am not sure that they are appropriate for the fireplace and the decoration of the house.
Please tell me if I should hang them(and how) or not..
If not ,what to hang than instead??
I bought them for this purpose and I am really frustrated that I may not hang them..
Thank you:)

They look great! Hang time up in an irregular way.

I agree with "carolins". Hang them! How valuable are they? Just wondering so that I can suggest a suitable hanging device.
I'd hang them staggered (randomly) or in a descending row. Either way, if you like them, then they're just the right thing for that spot! congrats!!

    I paid about 150€ .
I tried to hang them all together but I couldn't find the way..I am not sure that they fit..
If not please suggest what to hang instead..
    Thank you

I think they look nice leaning up against the wall like that, if you just bring up the bigger one up with the others. Unless of course they seem precarious.

Carolins is so right that the oars will look great above your fireplace. Lay them out on the floor to determine spacing of them. Here's a link to info on how to actually hang them. If this link doesn't suit you, there's lots of info on the internet on "how to hang oars". I know because I recently had a similar project, but it was a pair of oars being hung horizontally above a wall mounted TV at a client's condo. http://www.ehow.com/how_12117971_hang-oars-wall.html

If I could just see them on the fireplace how they look I would feel more comfy to hang them somehow..

Maybe Carolins could photoshop them up there for you. She's a woman of many talents and that may be one of them.
    That would be great!!
If someone could help me "seeing" the picture because I can not imagine the way to hang them yet..
I don't like them either way I try to hang them..

I like them it's different. Hang them. Stagger in height. Starting longest 7" from top of mantel . On right side then next longest in middle it will be about 10" from top and so on. Play with it. I would declutter bkcase. Is that wallpaper behind it? I would paint it wall color. Not sure about pic over TV. ?

Instead of pic by TV try floating shelves 2 in different length. Add some accent color in pots etc. just a few.

Change 1 st one too 10" above mantel yours is low.

Here are a couple of hanging device and hardware suggestions but do link to Carolyn Albert-Kincl suggested page for additional reference.
    1. Small d-rings mounted to the back of each oar. Color the d-rings the same color as the oar or black with a permanent marker before screwing into oar. Install hanging hooks on the wall at appropriate heights. Paint the hanging hooks the same color as the wall.
    2. Small eyelet screws: Install small eyelet screws into each oar on handle. Again, camouflage the eyelet screws with a marker or paint application. Install eyelet screw in wall and again paint the color of the wall. Thread fishing line through eyelet on oar and through wall eyelet many times till secure.
    3. Leather cord: Wrap and tie a lovely cord and knot around the handle end of each oar and install metal hooks in wall to accept the loop. See picture attached.
    4. Build a wooden device as pictured in image attached which would resemble a traditional mounting system in a boat house.
p.s. - Consult a professional art installer in your area. It's worth the extra cost.

I am not sure that I want to make changes over the picture over the TV.
Right now I really want to fill the gap on the fireplace.it seems empty to me..so right now I only have the oars.
    The problem is how..

Love the paddles. I think they might need one other thing for balance:

Hhhmmmm they seem great like that..
I can hang them even without the extra decor thing..
It seems very nice the way you photoshopped it.Thanks a lot!!

paddles would look nice above the fireplace. But ONLY if u close the book shelf. Glass door would be nice

Sorry, I wasn't here in time to 'hang' the oars, but I see Groveraxle came to the rescue :-))

I would hang them horizontally with the largest one closest to the fireplace. the other 2 ar ed generally the same size but the larger of the 2 have gold in it so I would hang that at the top to carry that color from the large one through the top for unity.

Tried out some other ways of arranging them.

I agree second version looks fab. Now, if you have oars in the house you must have fishing line to string those darlings up! :-)
