HI -- I think if you need the storage , then yes . Open shelves just become cluttered if your using them for storage and not just for display . Maybe if you tiled around the cabinets and backsplash in something shiny and reflective like some mirrored tiles .

It is a small area for the kids to use a computer or do a little homework. If I had the uppers it would be for paper, art supplies, making baking stuff. Thank you for the replies!

i would definetely take the uppper cabinets, i dont think ull regret it one bit... ;) u cant get enough storage, and it rly Looks good, you stil have enough space between the cabinet and the window for it not to look cramped

I think the uppers look nice. A command center needs storage to keep it looking uncluttered.
