Has anyone ever purchased from Tile Shop?

Has anyone ever purchased from The Tile Shop? I have been waiting for a sample for a month. The delay is attributed to winter storms in Minnesota, where samples are. Does anyone have any experience with this vendor?

I am in search of a black or very dark gray porcelain tile that looks like stone or concrete for a tiny kitchen area.

I ordered my backsplash tile from them earlier this year. I ordered samples of several different tiles which came in about a week. Then ordered all the backsplash tile which came in a little quicker than that. When it was installed we ended up with almost a full box of tile to return. We kept a few for mishaps and returned the rest...probably 2 months after ordering. No issues at all with them.

Yes almost all our tile comes from The Tile Shop. Their customer service has been great and for the most part the tile in good shape and inexpensive. They're much better at natural stones than they are ceramic though, I will say that. If you can gain access to a daltile distributor, they've got a great selection at reasonable prices as well.

There are 2 Tile shops that I know of and not related. One is a chain in the Midwest and maybe beyond. The other is a cluster of stores in CA. I assume you are talking about the MW. I looked at tiles at TS but ended up getting the tiles from CA

This is the one I meant.

The Austin Tile Shop looks to be part of the Tile Shops that we have in Michigan. We got our 2nd floor bath tile and kitchen backsplash from them. Easy to work with, knowledgeable, choices we found no place else, good prices, pleasant experience at 2 different locations, no problems.

We have a local outlet of the Title Shop here, and they are super to deal with. I would be very surprised if that group would feed you. Information. Note that the website for this particular chain is www.tileshop.com, as opposed to www.tile-shop.com. The latter group is a smaller, different chain. I don't know anything about them.

I have never shopped there but we have a local store in my area of this chain. I wonder if you could call a location to send you a sample?
    Good luck!

They accept opened boxes for returns? Thanks

We don't have a local store but I picked up a few samples from them at least 3 years ago while I was traveling. When I stopped there again this year they told me to bring the samples back next time I was in the area and they would give me a refund.

Hi I have used this place called Thetileshop.com. they have a lot of locations. I ordered my tile online, and one of their employees delivered it to my door the very next day in the trunk of a Lexus! I never get tired of telling that story. $1200 worth of marble leaves plenty of room in a big Lexus trunk, too!
The service was stellar in 2008.

Are you IN Austin? If so, I recommend this shop - The Tile Guy on Anderson Lane. We have used them for our bathroom and kitchen remodel, and my parent have used them for kitchen, bathroom, and fireplace surround. They are EXCELLENT, but they are a local store and not a chain.

We used Carrera herringbone tile from the Tile Shop. They were very helpful to me in my search - someone at the local store called all around to find the last 8 boxes of the tile and got it to me via UPS or FedEx in time for my installers. They let me return any extras as well as some samples I'd bought in advance. I'd happily use them again.

I bought ceramic tile from them 4 years ago. There was a backorder in the tile being imported, but not too long. Great tile, great prices, easy to work with, took back a full box. Would definitely consider them again.

TexasPenny, I'm an hour and a half from Austin. I appreciate all the responses. Saw a black quartzite in Houston that is a possibility. I don't think that I have seen enough yet. I'll check Tile Guy, too.

They have great service and return policies BUT most if not all their tiles come from China. If that matters to you.

Yes, it matters to me. Thank you.

Sombreuil, ours was delivered in a Mercedes! Our carpenter commented, "Nothing says ripping you off more than delivering tile in a Mercedes" Otherwise we had a good experience with our Tile Shop.
