What's the look of the rest of the home? I like roman shades for traditional. Shutters for a more beach feel/casual room.

I think either would work depending your preferences. I personally find Roman shades to be more versatile in terms of working with a variety of design styles. They're easily changeable and also less expensive than shutters. With that said, shutters do add value to a house. I also think they'll be more view friendly than Romans.

Have you thought about the top-down bottom-up shades?

Shutters. Once they're open, they wont block out any view unlike roman shades where, at least, 5-8" of window is still blocked.
