Keep the wall or extend door way?

This house was passed down to me and there is so much I want to do!
Should I extend the door way or leave it the way it is.
This is the first room you see when you enter the house.
If I extend the door way it will open up to the living room.
I am young and have a budget...

What a wonderful inheritance! Opening up sight lines is a great way to make a space seem more open. However, you might want to wait until you are certain that no major systems or the roof need work before you embark on something like opening up a wall. That in itself, especially if any electrical has to move, is at least $1500-$2000, because you have to repair the floor as well as re-frame, trim, and dry wall.

Thank you! I did not even think about the floor!
