Agree that the minimal details of the shaker cabinets feels quite contemporary. One option is to paint them a color if you are ready for a change.

Yes - concrete counter top. Great ideas about the painting and the flat doors. Much appreciated!

I have also added this light. Not sure if that changes anyone's mind?

It's great and with a dark wall, will probably cast lovely shadows. I would definitely stay fairly neurtal on the rug though, so as to not have competing elements.

Ooooooh. I love your dining area. Light is huge but I understand the need for volume as you are in a loft. Very much love the artwork. Great choices. Add a silver or white filigree long rectangular or oval bowl to the top of the table. It can be left empty. It will just bring the eye down to your lovely dining set.

Pendants show off the countertop nicely. I think you need under counter LED lights & wouldn't it be great if you could add some above the cabinets, since you are in a loft. I would not change your cabinets at all.

Hey, they can also be brought down to the kick space at the floor as well. Get really snazzy.

About the wall color . . you don't have enough light now so if you darken the end wall . .you can put a higher light lumens led in here and put it on a dimmer but get the kind that is shielded down and shines straight up so it doesn't shine right into someones eye and all the cool shadows are above eye level . . it feels like it may be a tad high - lower so the top of it is no higher than top of end wall - maybe 8" below - loft dictates it shouldn't be as low as rule but if you have enough cord . . .

You just wanted to show off your fabulous loft area!!!!! You do not need help, really.

Love this fixture btw and think cabinets are plenty contemporary . . but blue wall will make them feel more orange . . . dark camo or chocolate gray will definitely make them more contemporary . . . test both colors on a posterboard or upload your room and play with the color options at sw or ben moore website before you decide.

Just add LEDs on dimmers. You could see the kitchen from everyplace in the loft!!!!!!

Thanks - and I definitely needed everone's great suggestions. I started with a dark grey (too dark), went with a white (thought it would brighted up the space, but it just looked blah), went back to light grey, and then tried yellow this weekend (looks awful).

    Living room area.

It is directly accross from the accent wall and table. The room is basically a long rectangle.
