Only if you have a chair or something else you want to put there. With the window there, it would make a nice reading corner. However, if you don't need a chair or something else there, I don't object to the table.

Looks very heavy in front of the window. I would move it. Do you have something smaller, a table with legs that would keep the space more open.

Any way you could resurface the fireplace in a grey tone? You can buy real stone that is 1" thick for this purpose. The existing one takes over the room. Your painting is lost on it.

I see you got your new TV console. Do you like it?

Hard to tell without seeing the whole room, but it might be suffering from what I have heard called The Titanic Effect - too heavy at one side of the room. There are lots of dark, square, heavy things there. You could remove the table and dress that area with floor to ceiling curtains, light in color and texture. That would give some softness and if you use a light grey or grey-blue, tie that color into that side of the room.

    Agree about centering the rug.

    Nice room.

I agree with Ann on the rug. I think having it asymmetrical is part of the problem. As for the table, I think it should go. There's a lot of rectangle going on so something round, or odd shaped would make the room flow. A chair with some curves in the design would be great and create a conversation space.

You h ave a lot of nice things going on in that room but all I keep focusing on is your fireplace. It is dominating the space. I don't know if you are wedded to it or not, but I'd consider at least painting the stone a nice grey/white/tan - some neutral color. I forced myself to do this in my last house and never looked back. However, I still can't paint my wood window trim.....

The picture isn't showing the whole room, but I'm wondering if the dark table might be helping balance the look of the dark furniture on the left side of the room (that we saw pictured in a previous dilemma). Then, if the future chairs have dark legs, that might further balance the dark furniture and look very nice.

I'm not sure I'm crazy about the art on the fireplace. Because the fireplace is busy on its own, I might leave the mantel empty except for maybe a metal object or three and hang the nice art on a wall in the room.

I'd scoot the lamp and plant on the table just a little more toward center. They're both just a bit close to the sides right now. Also, regarding the mantel, it's fine with nothing if you don't happen to have appropriate decor right now. Here's an example of the type of decor I have in mind. These are from Crate and Barrel and the price of all three gets a bit steep.

Hi Ann- yes, I love the cabinet and bought the smart tv today- so proud of myself for being able to get it connected to wireless wifi-lol I am go remove the drop leaf table and one of the chairs and table will go there and also the rug will come over- just put it down so waiting for it to settle a little. Is there anyway I can send you pics without doing a whole new post?
The canvas has to be framed and hoping that kind of tones it down. I actually bought it first and have done this whole room around it- so got to use it. Thank you so much for your help!
