50's Pink bathroom dilemma!

Looking for some help with our pink tile 1954 bathroom :) we won't be replacing the tile anytime soon, so we have to deal with it. This is our ONLY bathroom and we struggle with the small space. We have a small linen closet outside the bathroom where we store toiletries and towels. The pedestal sink drives me insane as there is no space to put anything. It looks cute, but serves no purpose. We have thoughts of eventually replacing the entire sink with a larger vanity.
The shower curtain is from target and while it's cute, the pink overload is getting to me. We have white towels since I couldn't think of any color that would work. We are also stuck with the ugly built in towel racks and the radiator...
Any suggestions for wall art? Storage? Shower curtain color? Towels? Thank you!!

This tile is one of the latest colors out there and looks great with grey! But I am a warm lover and grey can be on the cool side. I also like the idea of bringing in a vanity for your sink in a warm medium finish to richen up the room.

I'd remove all the extra pink such as the shower curtain and paint the walls white with black trim. I would put in one brighter pink statement piece such as a vase. But if you really hate the pink tile I'd paint it. There are DIY instructions on how to this successfully.

I have a sink like that & it seems to have more space around it than most pedestals. I think if you check measurement requirements for the space you will need for the toilet you will not be able to put in a vanity. Use pure bright white for your shower curtain and your towels. Buy quality. Embrace your pink. Add some glass shelves with chrome hardware such as you would see in a 50's bath & use them for added space. Add a live chartreuse orchid on one of the shelves for zing.

It is not as bad as you think, though I feel your frustration. Here are my thoughts:

1. Paint walls and ceiling as soft light grey.

2. Simple white shower curtain.

3. Chrome shower rod to go with the other chrome fixtures in your bathroom.

4. Get rid of shelf above the toilet and just hang the black and white picture there.

5. The floor tiles, look slightly discolored, get newer peel and stick tiles in a soft, simple color.

6. Get a pretty chrome or glass soap dispenser to put on the sink top.

7. Get a nice chrome or glass cup to put your toothpaste in.

8. Don't try to use this space for storage. Instead make the most of your hallway closet. I had an old bathroom and did the same and grew to like not having a ton of stuff in the bathroom.

9. Get a nice white throw rug/mat - but only have one instead of the two you have now.
1. Crisp white towels.
2. Hard to see the lighting above the mirror but might change that or not.

I had a pedestal sink at my cabin and really needed the storage. I made a ruffled skirt and used Velcro tape to attach it to the sink. I loved it! Could easily come off to wash and also hid my cleaning supplies. Very DIY. This is my first time adding a link so I hope it works! http://houzz.com/photos/6564721

I think a black toile skirt, white walls and black towels would be classy yet not too feminine.

Actually, I just saw the tile in behind the towel rack. I'd do white towels with a black trim.
