Unfortunately, these are not contemporary lamps. They're traditional, so yes, a traditional Empire shade would look best, but you could use a little bit of a funky fabric on the shade. Maybe a cross dye or something with a metallic sheen in a soft color that would coordinate with bedding, curtains, etc. Look for a local person or a lighting showroom that makes shades. If you already have the frames then just have them recovered.

I would do a classic bell shade. It con look good in a more transitional-contemporary interior.

Thanks for the advice. I knew It was going to be very select for choice of shades. I was originally going to buy something with clean lines and a drum shade. My lamps I had before have bell shades so I just plopped them on the inherited set for now. Need to find a size a tad bit bigger than what is shown here.

I was going to go a different direction with the rooms design before the lamps and some other inherited furniture took over my house. Now I'm just viewing it as a new adventure for the design of the master bedroom. So fare I'm pleasantly surprised with this new look I was not expecting.

I will have to add pics as the room comes together.

Box style with the top tapered in and the bottom wider. I a soft cream would be pretty. For a dramatic look Black would work well with this style.

So something like one of these fun shades but on a bell or empire shade. I'd like to make them a little fun. :)
Is the black shade too moody? It doesn't have to be birds on the shade. But something off center and white on the black shade would be pretty.

square or drum style. It is hard to tell the scale of your lamp. It appears to be a little smaller, so pick a medium size shade. Of the four you have displayed I like the upper left the best.
