Backsplash I found @ either Lowe's or Home Depot....I LIVED at both. Don't remember name of design, unfortunately. (basically redid the entire house). The countertop is peacock verde. Has a touch of green in it.

It's great that you were able to see past the sponge painted walls, and now you have this terrific space.

Great warm after look! I like the cabinets and stainless. I must admit the before has loads of charm and the dog is adorable. I would have kept the avocado trash compactor possibly. Great colorful (watercolor?) painting in before picture also.

Lovely! Nice work, beautiful quality remodel. The 'before' was somewhat entertaining. In a sweet way. It kind of reminded me of my niece's daycare center. :) Love the 'after' - the backsplash tile is beautiful.

Beautiful reno! I love how the wall is opened up to the dining room. I would have been tempted to put the sink in a bank of cabinets under the window, but that would create a loss of the doors to the patio and driveway/garage.

Absolutely gorgeous! Very warm and inviting and love the redo of the backyard too. The one thing that makes me go uh oh is that I have kids and I can see one of them running into that extension of an island head first. lol There's always one!

Thanks, all! I DID like the sponge painting, too, but when you got close up, didn't look nearly as good, nor did the cabinets. The former owner was an artist, so was her picture, which I loved....but couldn't afford! Her dog, too! The sconces...loved the art deco look and was going to use them, but they were very brittle plastic and didn't hide the bulbs from the underneath, so would have had to be used at eye level, which I would have done, but they were very cheaply made, which was really obvious at eye level!! We DID keep the trash compactor, kind of...son in law put it in his garage to mash beer cans!! Kevin....looks like we had "brother houses from different mothers" in both the before AND after!! LOL!

Oh, and DID think of the sink in cabinets under the window, but as you said, would have lost the back doors and kinda needed both, as one opens to patio (and grill) and other is the "neighbor door" and back way to garage (no door opening directly from inside to garage) Also thought of putting a banquette there, but same reasoning. However, the sink IS positioned on the peninsula so I can see out a dining room window and have put flowering bushes in a garden there, so still have a nice view. Also have my "office/sunroom" with french doors looking straight at the waterfall, so is great to sit in my chaise and read/listen to the water w/screen open.
