Hello, I am new to this forum and growing tropical fruit trees. I was
looking for 2 lychees and a sapodilla tree because my 2 mango trees I bought 2 years ago from Home Depot are getting big and surviving great, so I thought I'd stop by a nursery, a
150 miles from my house on the way home, and pick up these lychees and what I thought
was a sapodilla. I live near Palm Springs and gets very hot, but if the mangoes survived, maybe other tropicals might too.

The guy at the nursery seemed polite but hurried, as he
took off from work as soon as he thought he had helped me enough. He
told me this was a good variety of sapodilla to get. He said they were
very strong, and much more cold and wind resistant than most
sub-tropicals. Anyways there is a tag at the bottom that I didn t notice
that says "Morena" and "Manikara Sapote". So is this a sapodilla or
sapote variety?

And whether this is a sapote or a sapodilla. Is the "Morena" variety
a good one to get? The gentleman at the nursery, said there might be a
few varieties of sapodilla, "slightly" tastier than the Morena, but he
said the Morena was a commercial variety is much stronger and prolific
than almost any Sapodilla variety, and is still very tasty. True?
