are you replacing entire shower surround or just a few rows up from the bottom so that the pan can be replaced? Is pan being replaced due to failure? Is it a fiberglass pan or Schluter system or mud pan that is to be tiled over?

just a few rows up from the bottom. A combination of improper installation and the home being older has caused the tile to lose its seal causing water to leak below. It has most likely caused damage to the subfloor, also. The pan will be tiled back over.

depending on the size, you are probably looking at at least $1,000 plus the cost of the tile and removal and replacement of the shower door -here's what's involved - the removal of the curb (and possibly the shower doors), the tile, the mud pan, the replacement of the pan and drain, new mud job or Schluter system, durrock, tile on the floor and walls, grouting, replacement of the curb and reinstallation of the shower doors if needed.
