What is the lighting like in the house?

good question. i haven't been in the house yet, just wanted to get some ideas before going in... i don't want to play it safe with just the same old beige or white. want to give it an updated feel.

BM Edgecomb Gray, Manchester Tan, Grant Beige, or Muslin

or are they too bland?

It may also depend on your area. In mine, gray or greige still reigns supremely.

Other suggestions: BM Coastal Fog, Gray Owl, Revere Pewter

The Edgecomb Gray in that pic is gorgeous.

If the house has a lot of natural light, maybe go richer with some oomph but still a neutral.

BM Briarwood, beautiful with white trim and woodwork.

we are in the NE, outside of Philly... all i know right now is that it was probably built in the 50's and more than likely its a colonial.....hopefully i will see it this weekend....

i do know that in some ways u have to keep it safe, but i don't want it to boring either.

We have SW accessible beige in our office building. Depending on your amount of natural light, it can look almost brown. Kestrel white is a lighter beige color we also have and it is pretty. City Loft (I think that's the name) is a light greige-y color that is very cool toned. But your best bet is not to pick a color based on recommendations from people who have used it in climates, zones and houses very different from the one you are flipping, but to choose several colors you like and try them in situ.

BM Manchester Tan or BM Edgecomb Gray. They are very close, but Edgecomb, could have a slight purple tint, from some of the research I've been doing.

Like the thought of a barely purple-greige, like a shoreline before just sunrise.

We need a new color name. Something like beigrey. For a greige that goes more beige than grey. I find true grays cold and would rather have something more neutral and warm. I'd probably be more drawn to whites on white than grays if I were buying and wanted something move-in ready.

just looking for a hint of gray with beige, something up to date, not just your run- of -the -mill beige. most people, not all, are drawn to "warmth" when buying a home. that "nesting" feeling kicks in. you want a feeling of calm, peace, relaxation and coziness......maybe greige won't work?????

Definitely check out BM Coastal Fog. I saw it at an open house and called the agent back to find out about the color. It's kind of tannish, green (and I really don't like green), beige, gray, depending on the light. Truly intriguing color. I couldn't really figure it out when I saw it.

If you are going for
a beige-y gray-ish or a gray-ish beige- ish you will get one or the other
depending on the time of day. At certain times a day my house looks gray other
times a day it looks more beige and yet other times a day its grayish beige-ish.
It will not look the same all the time. That is why you paint a swatch on each
side of your home and look at them all at different times. You will think you
made a mistake and painted another color when painting your swatch colors on
one side to the next. They will look nothing alike. Same holds true for interiors, it's all down to the lighting.

I agree that lighting is so important...

However, I've seen Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist in both light / dark rooms and I think it's been a great griege. I also like Silver Satin... Just a touch lighter than Balboa.

2 pics of same bathroom, need a paint color.

believe it or not this is the same bathroom. i want to tone down the tile because it is a VERY strong unhoned travertine with strong yellows and even oranges, so want to play it down. was thinking of edgecomb grey for it. there is some, but not much, shadings of gray in the travertine. would love some input. this tile is also used as the kitchen b/s with dark cherry cabinets (burgandy/mahogany colored) and beige small dot corian. it just looks awful. so i need a paint in there also and was thinking of BM brandy cream......thoughts. really want to tone down this very bold/loud/obnoxious travertine.

SW Realist Beige is the perfect color. It compliments any decor, is a beigey grayish color that is soft and gorgeous.

I agree with grapefruit1_ar . Gray reminds me of prisons, so I would never paint any walls gray.

since this is a year old thread, hopefully the op has chosen by now.

Please, no gray. It's not a color that not everyone loves. Probably got a 'bum rap' years ago for being used in prison 'decor.' As much as I like the color Nicki has posted, I think a warmer tan is ideal. When the sun shines in there's an extra dose of sunshine and in the glow of the evening, it gives a wonderful ambience. I can't remember what color mine is since it's a special paint mixed for the builder, and can't be found on line.

We're looking at homes just outside of Philadelphia, and the ones with gray paint, altho marginally better than hot pink/blue/orange/purple that I've seen so often, are cold and depressing. And my furniture won't work, either. So I'd repaint a grey interior just as fast as I could.

the house was a flip so i had to work with what was there. used coastal fog, MB, revered pewter BR, sugar cookie BR, a very dark brown in BR., and 2 more that i can't remember now., turned out very well....he sold it in about 4 weeks....

I would go on the Benjamin Moore site and pick from the colors they have that are best for staging a home. I would do greige, if you wanted a little drama add an accent wall in a medium warm gray.

I dont know how grey got so popular. I am shopping for a property and feel like everything I look at is GREY!!!! I hate grey! It may be neutral but so is tan. GREY makes me feel so sad.
