Q1- I like the deck as is, not sure how hot it is where you live, we get super hot with the south west exposure. The deck with pergola will help with the heat. A shade tree in the yard and your favorite plant growing on the pergola gives you a outdoor living space worth watching the sunset.
Opt: If possible, extend the deck the length of the house, add a grilling area, fire pit even hang twinkle lights..

Q2- I am not a fan of parading people through the laundry room. So if anyone, other than family, enters your home from the garage, I'd pass on that idea. The hall seems functional if you utilize the space under the stairs for storage. i.e. shelves, coat rack, shoe cubbie etc.
My other thought is the linen closet door. I am not sure how you use it but would rather access it through the laundry room. It would make folding and storing directly from the dryer a snap.
Walking around the corner to put away linens seems tiresome.

P.S. Floor to ceiling glass doors/ windows around your outdoor living will keep those hallways light, bright and open.

1. The linen closet door being moved to the laundry is an excellent idea.
2. Regarding deck, our architect insists on not having a deck at all. My idea of having a half deck even gets thrown out of window. :((. The reason of not having a full house deck is to reduce building cost. We have a sewer line crossing from south to east at the backyard. In order to have big enough living room and not build over sewer line, I will be happy if I can just have a half deck with cover or pergola.

3. Regarding hall way, yes, when people coming into our house will feel pleasant if we lead them through the hall way instead of laundry.
   
   Then my another dilemma is that seems there are too many doors to access the house, from front door, from garage, from deck, from court yard. I am thinking another option is to come into the house via deck. It is about 10m walk after parking a car. Is it too far? Thinking about raining. But it reduces one access point. Not sure about this option? Any other solutions for not having too many doors to increase security home security?
   
   

I am not sure if your multiple door concerns are for security or just distraction. My homes have always had 4-5 exterior access doors but only one to the public. Maybe a privacy fence or wall can be added? Plants like a hedge might give you a bit more privacy on the front patio/deck area

In fact, concern about security, seems provide many options to come into the house and get out of the house.
