Hi I have been looking for three months for curtains in my living room. Now I have it narrowed down which do you like?

Sorry, Alyssa, to add to your stress with another suggestion but maybe it would be better to wait until the built-ins are installed as that will give the room a whole new character. I think the floral is great, even for curtains but, as you say, you must keep in mind your husband's preference. That being the case, I think that after the built-ins are done, you will find that the plain blue taffeta curtains and floral pillows will look great in the living room. How about using the champagne swirly one for the dining room?

How about the solid blue drapes and floral pillows for the living room (the combo you posted about a half hour ago)? Then, the champagne swirly drapes in the dining room as alineshouse suggested. I think that could work.

I agree. I am so hung up on the florals that I just ordered a half metre to rule it out. I am diffinately going with the blue floral combo. The champagne will work but it's very very light. I like the blue swirls a little better. Alineshouse the problem is I have already paid $2,200 in Dec and they actually went out of business . I am lucky they are honouring me but under pressure to get my order in ASAP or I could lose all my money.

Hubby is puting a lot of pressure on me too.

Regardless all these fabrics are so beautiful I will love them.

if I do, do pillows how many should I do? Should I mix them up or stick with four and two solids?

It looks to me like the champagne would be beautiful with the dark furniture, wall color and dining room rug. I think it's a great choice for the dining room and it's nice that it's light and subtle.

I see your point. I will run it by hubby tonight to see his thoughts.

    Thank you all

Hubby would probably prefer a pattern like this one:

But, all of the ones he likes are very masculine. I would tire of it very quickly. The thing about choosing a fabric you really love is you don't get bored with it so quickly as choosing a fabric you are so-so with.

Well...reading through posts and it seems that you have a length of the floral fabric? Maybe do pillows in those, then something more tame on the windows to compromise with your hubby? Also read you like to change things around frequently? I love, love, love the floral fabric, but maybe this compromise would work?

P.S. I really do not care for the print you posted that hubby likes. (Sorry hubby). It looks dated to me. Just my opinion of course ;-)
Go for the floral in the living room. You love it and it will grow on your husband. I would do a table runner in the same fabric for the dining room. You could do the champagne wave in the dining room... Or the blue velvet your designer picked out last week. I don't care for the solid blue teal at all. It's too bright for your space. Don't stress over this! You love the fabric. We love the fabric. Plus.. Your designer, who saw your room in person, suggested it. It will look fabulous. Hubby will agree once the drapes are installed.

The OP did not post that fabric, FYI. I only posted that as a pattern that he would probably like. Personally, since everything in the room is so masculine, I feel her husband should bend a little and let her have the floral she loves so much. For one thing, once it is pleated up, the floral will not be so "in your face" as he thinks it is.

Actually hubby doesn't like any pattern he wants the solid blue with the floral pillows.

    Just for info

I never like taking pics of the house with my iPad.

I use my camera and an ipad connector to the camera to download them to houzz or my ideabooks, it makes such a difference.

I think the connector was about $20. It's very easy to use (thank god cause I'm really bad with technology)

    Thought I'd share

    This matches my pillows perfectly.

Lol my decorator won't talk to me. I am annoying him now.

Go with the solid blue and get the floral pillows. Done deal!

    alyssaandryan thanked Nancy Walton

And get a lighter tone of the paint color to lighten it up.

I am doing the blue in the dinning room if hubby agrees. The champaign is too light you can't even see it.

With plain blue and floral pillows in living room. It looks like it will work.

This is my art work and I am 100% on this. Maybe I should be looking for inspiration by this.

Even more confused hubby just told me to go ahead and do the floral but still having doubts. I did really like the sample curtains I had in the light blue as well as the beige. I enjoyed the cool calmness. spending this kind of money with these doubts concerns me. Hubby says we won't have the budget to repaint for a while so I have to get this right.

    I love this colour

I think you will have regrets if you don't get the floral. Since you won't be able to paint for awhile, I'm just afraid the blue will make it too dark in there. And don't forget, the pleating will help the floral be less of a floral and more of a mix of color.

    alyssaandryan thanked Nancy Walton

And it will go so nicely with your art, which is really pretty!

Thanks Nancy. And all of you for helping me out. I waited almost 5 years to have the extra money to do this and finally hubby gave the ok and I face this. Whatever I choose I am stuck with for many years and like all of us I just want a beautiful home. I have ordered a half metre of fabric to see if I like it. If it bothers me I can always move it to our new basement as I have four large windows down there. I am just up and down about the crazy cost of these curtains. I can't just return them if I don't like them.

Ok I am taking a deep breath and ordering the floral have it up on the window again and still love it. I fear the blue will be dark, too blue and plain. I love the floral and always have. If they don't work I will find a place as I have many more windows to do but I think this space truly needs this so here I go. Now the dinning room? The blue wavy lines works in both spaces but maybe I should go with the champaign to calm down on the blue. The pattern is barely seen on the champaign and hubby likes this one as well as the blue.

Great news! I'm happy you ordered the fabric you really love. I honestly do NOT think you need curtains in the dining room. You have that spectacular mirror, beautiful table, and plantation shutters. It doesn't seem like you have a lot of room on sides and above the window to hang rod. That being said, you mentioned having a credit you needed to use and you may really like the idea of adding curtains. Any thoughts for anyone else????

I do like the idea of curtains in the dinning ro plus I paid for them already so trying to decide on colour lol. I really love these. I am strongly feeling the blue. It's stunning and not to extreme plus they work in both spaces. Does these colours work together Karen the floral and light blue?

I'm feeling like those blues aren't great together but I do love the champagne with the floral. It's also very important how they look with the dining room rug and paint color.

    alyssaandryan thanked Ann

Since the dining room is on the other side of the house, it really shouldn't matter if they don't match exactly, but since you love the blue more than the beige, you have your answer. Go with what you love, or you will have regrets. Simple as that.

The good thing about the blues is the floral does have all blues so I do see a match. I love the champaign but it gives the room a washed out look. Just so affraid to make a mistake.

Well, if they aren't in the same room, they don't need to match. How is the blue with the wall color and rug?

    alyssaandryan thanked Ann

Ok I have decided since the floral is so bold I will go with the champaign and hubby loved this colour too. Floral and champaign it is. Thanks ladies for all your help I have made myself and my poor family nuts.

Please post pics when they're up.

I will they are ordered now. My heart is in my throat sooo nervous this will be a mistake.

Just canceled my order! I can't go throw with anything right now. My decorator thinks I am nuts. I just don't feel good about not seeing things visually and being forced to live with something I may not like. Taking a break and going to try and clear my head. I don't even know if I will get my money back but I cannot make a decision.

Sorry it's been so stressful for you!

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I think any of your last samples would have been beautiful together. Even thought the blues are not a perfect match, they would have worked fine together because they are in separate rooms. But, maybe it would be a good idea to take a break and come back to it if that is possible. Hope all works out and you get your money back. Keep us posted.

Wow-- it has been way too stressful! I really hope you get your money back.

When you do revisit it, throw out the decorator and go with some less expensive options that you don't have to feel stuck with forever!

When I was looking for a leather sectional ( NOT brown), a local designer had me choosing between a 10,000 and 15,000 one! Since we will be retiring soon, I knew I'd be stuck forever,..Luckily I found a very stylish teal leather sectional at Costco on sale for $2000. We just love it, and I can get sick of it someday.

Take the pressure off--enjoy your life--and give thanks for all the blessings you have

Thanks this has been very stressful because I am being forced now or I lose my money. I called hubby in tears and we are going to sit down and try to select something plain and simple in a solid and I think I am safe to go with the champaign tone on tone swirl for my dinning room. I am so OCD with these curtains I am trying to achieve perfection and nothing will be perfect. I do keep looking a blues and greens and I went to the store and found a very beautiful bluish green in a taffida. Also thinking a beige or gold colour. Will discuss with hubby. This problem has to go away I shouldn't be this emotional over curtain panels lol. Just so wrapped up in the whole wanting it to be and look perfect.

I also think Houzz has confused me because their are so many opinions and although I really appreciate the help I have got my head spinning. I am very greatful at the same time because you guys keep me thinking and getting to the bottom of what I really want.

I don't think you'll regret simpler choice. I'm not a professional decorator, but have been alive long enough to know that you can always switch out pillows, accessories, and wall paint--but some of the expensive pieces have to be more timeless and neutral.
    Enjoy your new pieces

Struggling between the orginal solid blue or a solid creme.

Hubby loves both. This blue has texture and colour that I won't get from creme but creme is simple and clean.

Ok ladies hubby and I went with the orginal solid blue in living room and the wavy champaign for the dinning room. The reason is since we are doing a creme built in we liked the idea of the blue and creme. Since I am also matching my table it works amazingly so I will post pictures in a few weeks. In the mean time I need to look for pillows lol. Any suggestions with the orginal blue we were discussing? These I won't be so OCD on because I can move them.

So I got a 1 metre sample of the floral fabric and I hate it! So glad I am doing the solid blue. Glad I thought it through. It would have been s huge mistake.
