Hi Roberto! I think your choice of the mother of pearl table lamp will be beautiful, and suggest you get two, one for each side of the bed. The hanging shell pendant in the other picture would make a sweet contribution as the central fixture, matching shells with shells. I sense that your style is contemporary, with a touch of cottage/country, and that you like texture and natural materials? You will definitely want a bed-frame including a headboard, to raise the bed up and finish it, so it looks more elegant. I think a cushioned fabric headboard with a soft, rounded shape would be nice, but I also like the idea of something wooden, perhaps reclaimed or distressed wood to continue the feel of the seaside or cottage. This choice will be one that dictates the style of the rest of the room. Do you want to say "classy and elegant" or "rustic and original" or something else? Imagine what materials and shapes you find most attractive, the two of you, and start there. You will also want two bedside tables, and your chosen table lamps (or even hanging pendants over each table- an unusual twist that I favour). If you go with these table lamps remember that you are working with a creamy white shade, so other fabrics should also have that colour or work with it. Make sure you get tables with at least one drawer each, you need a place to stash private stuff! Speaking of stashing stuff- once you have a bed frame, the under bed area can be used to store out of season clothes or whatnot. It seems like you also need bureaus as well- places to store your clothes? These should match the same colour wood as the bedside tables...try to make all your wooden items in the same family, in the same colour tones if not same types of wood. I also would like to see a nice armchair in there, a place to sit and read, or to put your clothes for the next day (or more than likely, your dirty clothes from that day!). Choose the armchair After you have chosen your carpet. A nice big one that comes out about 4 ft. from either side of the bed would be ideal...I might even move the bed further into the room, don't feel that it needs to be in the centre, a little asymmetry can be very freeing! Hi Shay, thank you so much for taking the time to give us some needed direction. Great suggestions. We are definitely going for the rustic feel, we are from the tropics so we like the idea of bringing in shells and whites and blues. The lamps are a done deal. We love them. It's just tricky to pair them with dark wood. The bed we showed - it's a West Elm Moroccan headboard bed, that's also purchased but not yet delivered. We could in theory exchange it, but we really like the pattern - exotic is a concept we may also want to incorporate. I was browsing for night stands last night, I found this wood/rattan piece that may go well with the bed and the lamps, what do you think? We also have a blue chair we can bring to this room (see picture). We found your feedback so thorough and encouraging. Thanks again. We will post more pictures on Saturday when bed arrives. We are thinking about moving quickly on nigh stands and dressers too. And I may also install recessed lighting over the weekend. If I install three cans we can play w the bed positioning...
