some sort of a roll down solar shade is nice if you dont need nighttime privacy. that way you can still see out in a filtered way.

i'm still a fan of vertical blinds on sliders when you need to go in and out, otherwise something rolling down is nice. you'll lose some glass at the top instead of stackback on one side but they should be about the same amount.

My favorite window treatments are pirouette's. They are inside mounted and roll all the way up into the top piece so you don't loose any window space when they're up. You can have them partway down, or all the way down and yet open, all the way down and closed, etc. I like that they only have one piece of fabric to look through if have them down but open. Silhouettes have 2 pieces of fabric to look through and have smaller, (thus many more) veins. We have the satin metallic (I think) version and they are not too shiny, but are soft looking and pretty. Love them!
Or how about a decorative roll down shade? Some say they can look cheap, but I think some look nice, and give a nice, clean look without huge expense. Good luck!

Thanks, it seems like everyone is in favor of some sort of roll down covering. I had considered that, but wasn't sure if that would conflict with the blinds on the window perpendicular to it. I don't need much privacy, as it overlooks a small space on the side of the back yard. Guess I'll start shopping!

If you don't need the privacy how about a simple valance.

I would suggest a sliding panel track.
