Does anyone know anything about glass covered shower walls?

When looking for a glass countertop for our bathroom renovation, we found a glass artist who said he can cover shower walls and make the vanity wall splash. I have seen glass countertops and glass kitchen wall splashes in Houzz, but not a shower with glass mounted on the walls. I'm not talking about a glass enclosure; this is a 3 1/2 walled walk in shower that will have one sheet of glass mounted on each wall. The stuff is gorgeous, but I would love feedback from anyone who has done it. Although it will be coated, I still think about keeping it clean among other things. This is cutting edge for Asheville, and no one else is doing it anywhere near here.

I've never seen this, but it sounds wonderful! Is it back painted? I've seen kitchen backsplashes that use back painted glass in place of tiles and it's gorgeous. Do a Houzz search and you'll find lots of examples.

All that I have seen on Houzz are either painted or frosted, but this is a different process. I have never seen a shower done. Houzz has nothing like it as far as I can tell.

The only challenges I can envision is to get a complete seal - you wouldn't want the glass to create trapped moisture on the wall behind - cement board behind should deal with that aspect once you have good overlap / water closure in the corners . . . Also, to meet code, you need tempered glass.

Candice Olsen did a few backpainted glass walls in some showers on her shows years back. But just one, with tile closing over it at the corners . . If you address the practical elements, there is no reason not to - easier to keep glass clean in a shower than most.
