I would certainly try the rug in there-- I think your color scheme will look nice. I had a yellow living room a good while back-- it was sunny and light-- a good space!

Just treat the yellow walls like you would a neutral colour. Look how gorgeous the pillow looks with the grey, turquoise and yellow. I put yellow walls as a search in houzz and there are some stunning rooms.

Linda, you certainly don't need any help with your thoughts on how to pull this room together, your choices are great and I think all of your pieces will work within the new home, I would try out the rug and it may work but, if all you had to do was upgrade with a new rug, your way ahead of the game.

Love the yellow, I am testing out yellow paint samples in my living room currently and would like to test this colour out, any idea what its called ?

@Peggy, yes I must say the rooms are very cheerful and bright with the yellow, one of the main reasons why I did not want to repaint.

@Bette, I never thought to treat it as a neutral, great advice! I also noticed all the beautiful yellow rooms, which gave me courage to keep the yellow :)

I have attached a picture of my new sectional for reference and painting options that I like. I know the horse one introduces some red into the mix which was not part of my original color scheme but I just love how bright and fun it looks.

Any thoughts on them?

I have really come to love the yellow walls, they give such a bright and cheery feeling to the whole space. I would definitely recommend yellow now, where I don't think I would have before.

I'm sorry but I don't know the exact color the house was freshly painted when we went to look at it but I'll try to find out for you and let you know if I find it.

Artwork is really nice, they go well together & there's nothing wrong with a little red! Neutral colour on the sectional is a good idea, you mentioned this was a rental home. You never know what colours you may have to work with if you happen to move again.

Now that I've got the painting and my gray couch in place, I do love the yellow and gray!

However my current rug and storage ottoman does not work at all! So I need to replace those and have no idea what colors to go with.

I think the rug looks just fine! What is it that is bothering you?, is it reading too beige or the size isn't quite right? I like mixing warmer 'wood' colours with grey, it warms it up.

I think adding a lumbar pillow or a throw on your white chair that have the colours in your painting plus a round tray on your garden stool to break up the white top surface, since it is beside your white chair.

A round or oval coffee table that has exposed taller 'legs'. It could be an upholstered top with wood legs or a wood top with metal legs.

Love the color scheme, impact will be made with the turquoise. My living room is painted a soft yellow and it is easy to live with.

I really would like a bigger rug, a 9x12 maybe but I'm not sure that's in my budget right now so I might have to stick with the 8 x 10. Also it is reading too beige for me I was thinking maybe something in A more graphic pattern like a black-and-white or just a shag. Do you think the black-and-white would be too much? I posted two examples below.

As far as the arm chair I should've pointed out that's just the frame it doesn't have the cover on it yet since its being wash. But the cover is white like in the picture below, so that's a good idea to to use a lumbar pillow that pull the colors from the painting. I like the tray idea for the garden stool as well but I might try to find may be a little table in a pretty accent color like turquoise to replace it.

I love the idea of a roundtable with an upholstered top since I have young kids. Although my hubby was thinking a square table would give us more reachable surface space from the couch not sure how true that is. Either way I do love the idea of the expose legs with a tufted/upholstered top.

We've only moved into this house about a week ago so nothing is style just thrown together so we have a place to sit for now

Everything seems absolutely lovely to me. Beautiful place and furnishings. The only thing I would change is the curtain rods position if you wish to do so. They should best be positioned above the window frame, as high as possible to add hight to the room. Or just remove them if not needed.

The yellow looks similar to the Ralph Lauren Claude that I used in my living room.

Thank you Billie! The curtain rod was already there when we moved in, I wish they had hung it higher too. The room has 2 story ceilings so I'm thinking it might not make much of difference though.

@dclostboy, I like the touches of red in your space with the yellow walls!
