I disagree. Here in MO it's darn cold in the winter and hot in the summer. My garage is not climate controlled per se, but it sure stays warmer in the winter with the ceiling insulated and insulated garage doors. I'm glad I went that way when I replaced mine.

A little late, but I agree with toxcrusadr. My garage was originally not insulated on the no-house walls and it was freakin' cold until I added insulation and sheetrock. Afterwards, it was far better.

Even if the garage isn't insulated it's not a terrible idea to go with insulated doors to help maintain a comfortable temperature in the extreme temperatures of summer and winter. This would also present the opportunity of insulating the rest of the structure down the road. (again, assuming it isn't already insulated)

There is a palpable difference in comfort for us with insulated garage doors and walls. It will get to be over 100 degrees many days this summer, and our garage faces south... so instead of instantly melting before we get into our cars, we have a little window of time before the car AC cranks up. Also good for us in the winter, although our temps are not severe. We can work comfortably out there in sweaters.
