You need one tub. I know the trend went from jacuzzi to soaker tub and now to no tub, but if you try to sell the house without a tub, think of the people who will walk away... Families for one!

i love my big shower so much i cant sentence you to a life without one. what miacomet says is correct, not disagreeing, but at some point the pain and suffering of home ownership has to be rewarded with being able to put in what you want and not live in a prison constructed for a hypothetical future owner.

if you have another tubless bathroom in the house where a tub can go in down the road thats good too.

What's the neighbor hood like? Families? Retirees? Young professionals? Singles? Are you in a house or condo? Old house (50-100+ yrs old) or newish? Are the demographics changing, the old folks moving out, young families moving in? And finally, how long are you going to stay in the house? In 10-15 yrs, your bath will be considered dated, and when you remodel, closer to selling, put the tub back. If you're in a neighbor hood that appeals to young families, and you're selling in 5 yrs or less, keep the tub.

I agree with Rachuba. At least one tub is important and necessary for resale but if you're going to be in the house for 15-20 years then take it out because you'll need to remodel before selling and you can replace it then. But also think about your family's changing needs... You may not need or want it now but what about 5 or 10 years from now?
