Choose a color 2 lighter or 2 darker on the color card (I’d go darker personally). You could also select a color out of your rug to paint the room instead. It already has the LR blue color from what I can tell, so you know the other colors in the rug will work.

I'd consider a sage green...it would go well with the colors already in your dining room and will help emphasize the blue in the watery.

Can you take a close up photo of the pattern on your rug for color reference please? Try not to have any flooring or furniture in the pic; just the pattern. Thanks.

I would leave the dining room as it is. it creates a very nice play of colors and light/shadow

I would play up the main color in the area rug for the diningroom wall color. I like the color it is now but it could go a bit darker. I love the blue and yellow combination of the rooms.

I suggest you paint the walls (above the wainscoting)the neutral beige of the rug. Cut what is left of the watery by 50% or even more and paint inside the coffer ceiling.

It would look nice if you paint the the living room with the same blue color, or with similar blue but a little bit lighter and saturated.

Thanks for all the tips. Question, if I paint the dining room a different color, and the hallway that runs along on the left side another color, won't that be too many colors for one area?

Make this easy on you - get that original paint chip card and use different colors from it. Darker shades in well lighted rooms and lighter tints for darker spaces like that hall.
