THANK YOU! You're so close--but just reading what you suggested made me remember what it was! They're an unknown [to me] variety of lilies that grows in one part of my backyard. See the attached pics. And thanks again. :)

Ah, a Hymenocallis (spider lilies). I have never let mine go to seed, so would not have recognized the pods. edit: I forgot some of the species got split from Hymenocallis into Ismene and some other names. Hymenocallis might be an old name. I hate trying to keep up with all of the splits.

How sure are you that they're Hymenocallis, gyr_falcon? A quick look at photos of those on Google shows a much leggier, flowing growth of the six points of each flower. Mine never look like that; they look just as pictured in the photos I attached earlier.

Thought I'd post an update. You see, I planted those seeds last month--and they're growing! They're about 2-3" tall right now, and they're still in the small container I started them in. I'm going to let them get a little bigger and then I'll move them, either to some big planters on my patio or directly in the ground.
