Hi for an investment piece such a sofa or sectional, I would suggest a similar fabric color as the sofa shown in this photo below (which was saved in your ideabook). It looks like there's a little bit of this color in the rug (toward the bottom area). You could also do a fabric similar to what's shown on the chairs.

Then pick 2-3 other colors from the rug as your accent colors and sprinkle those colors throughout your room, like with throw pillows, flowers, vases, art & other accessories.

Should you ever decide to change your rug/decor in the future, the sofa will still be neutral enough to go with a lot of other styles and colors.

You could go with a caramel color. Good luck

What an amazing rug! I would probably use a tan sectional with very clean lines. Then I would add some fluffy/furry white pillows and a orange (preferably Hermes) throw. Based on the way the rug looks some modern photography of Russian nesting dolls would also be fabulous on the walls! Speaking of walls, I would probably keep things white which would look great with the modern photography I mentioned earlier! If you are looking for coffee tables I would use something metallic gold or silver. Clean lines and preferably two smaller over one larger. I hope I have at least somewhat helped you!

Love the idea of the couch in red - leather or velvet to make it very rich feeling.

The walls a soft grey (I can see it in one swirly part of the rug, bottom in photo). I almost never like grey for paint (and I get to see plenty since it is so popular right now) but I bet it would be an amazing background for that rug if you choose a red couch.

Fabulous rug. Any of the colors in it could be used for sofa. I'm leaning toward grey and use other colors for accent pillows. .

The white backgrounds of the product pics is throwing off the color balance of the board slightly. I would go with a warm neutral on the furniture (sofa and chair from Restoration Hardware in flax linen and velvet). This allows the rug to be the star of the show - you don’t need furniture to pull out any colors in the rug because they stand out on their own. Upper L coffee table and ceiling fixtures would take you in an understated glam direction; with the lower arrangement goes the transitional romantic route; and the upper R leans towards industrial modern. Colors could be picked up again in small accents, pillows and artwork that also speak to the overall feel you want to achieve for the room. The rug does have an overall warm tone, so I used a robin’s egg blue background in the collage as reference to a wall color that would complement the rug.

I'll chime in - a rug like that will quiet down a lot on the floor . . a deeper sage green slipcover or one of the camoflauge neutral green grays is going to give you the most flexibility to change your color palette time and time again to echo different elements of the rug that you like . . one year, pumpkin and terracotta . . .spring comes and you can go sunflower and white ..

That rug has every color under the sun so am not sure why you are looking to it for inspiration-practically any color sofa will work. What are the other colors going into the room? What mood are you trying to achieve? What is your design style? No one can tell you what YOU like, only what they like. Having some info on your likes would be helpful.

I think what Lauren meant by referring to Hermes was to describe the particular color/shade of orange that is their "signature" color.....kind of like when folks describe a blue as Tiffany blue. I don't think she was suggesting a Hermes throw. :-) Just wanted to clarify just in case anyone else (like the OP) was wondering too.

As others of have noted, most any color will work with your rug. One thing I'd like to suggest is that you consider a glass top coffee table so you can enjoy your beautiful rug. Below, I've paired the rug with a robin's egg blue sofa and a deep coral chair. Just another idea to consider. Best wishes to you as you put your room together!
