Painting trim takes a while. About three weeks if you're not a pro but still want it to look perfect in a semi ornate 12 x 12 room. And the color is critically important if you have a neon green room. If you change the dove grey white semi gloss to a dull white gloss it will look like complete shit. Everyone who sees it will think, look how shitty that neon green room is. Look how they shitted that up. Also glopping on gloss paint to uneven surfaces is difficult to do if you don't want it to look like a well used gymnasium. Yes, it's easier to clean, but how dirty are you that you need gloss paint on perfect trim? What's the point of ruining everything just because you're scared?
