Thanks Tj! Looking ok still, should push.

7ern , love your photography ,,,,,gives me an appreceation of up close bud break

I got a parviflora 'Ron's Broom with 5 buds coming on each branch (it's so tiny,it only has three branches),,,,that's probably normal for this plant,,,don't know,,,but real cool !

Thanks Ronster!

Pinus can often have multiple buds but Abies are generally pretty regimented.

It's well worth having a close up look at buds with a magnifying glass. Some are very attractive with their metallic cases.

'Schwarzwald' (aka 'Badenweiler') is one of my favorite A. alba miniatures but, alas, mine perished last summer for no apparent reason. Worse still, I'm having a hard time getting another since I can't find a supplier for this plant on this side of the pond. :9(

I'll be interested to see more photos showing the development of your bud cluster, Severnside.

Thanks, tj. It's funny that you should mention 'Hedge', since I just got one last week! I bought one from 'Iconic Gardens' website which turned out to be above and beyond my expectations. Here is the plant at the bottom right of this photo. It was described as "4 years" and cost $35. Iconic Gardens website lists one remaining in inventory. If anyone is looking for something similar, I would certainly recommend this one.

For some reason, I find the chunky needles and of 'Badenweiler' to be unique among all albas, almost akin to a koreana. I'm still on the lookout for another one.
