you could always hand quilt following the seams of the pieces you have stitched together to make the top. Traditional method tells us to stitch 1/4" in from the seam. I have used masking tape to place down and stitch right up against the edge of the tape to have a guide. A soft lead pencil done with a light hand is my traditional method. Some people spray starch on the quilt top to create a coating then mark the quilt. When washed the marks seem to come off easier. I have also used tailors chalk on dark color fabrics. Use a ruler until your eye gets used to the 1/4 inch and remember, this is hand made and striving for perfect takes the fun out of it unless you are doing a quilt for competition. Happy quilting!

There are loads and loads of free hand quilting patterns. If you google you should be able to find lots of different sites. Put in the style you are looking for like "free modern hand quilting patterns" or "free traditional hand quilting patterns." Another tip is to use a hard surface like the side of a metal bowl or a glass or the old school yard sticks. Have fun!

Thats what I opted to do this time Stevie 1/4 " from the seams and I have used one fabric that has a large flower , so I am stitching around that too. Thank you all for the help offered. I really appreciate it.

littlemonkeys3 I have googled but was not really sure how I would transfer the pattern to the quilt. I am ignorant I am afraid.

cindylovesdaisys if you print the pattern and get tracing paper and a pen you could trace right on to your fabric. The tracing pens are pretty cheap. I think they have them even at Walmart if if remember correctly. If not a Michaels should carry them or similar craft store.
