They are very cute and they are nice and BIG - it's really easy to clean large electric skillets and jellyroll pans. Note that white sinks are more painful to keep looking nice. They can get marked up by pots and pans really easily. The marks can be scrubbed off, but I find it annoying to have to scrub the sink every time I wash dishes to keep it looking nice. If she's not opposed to a more modern look, I'd go with stainless steel.

This is a style choice. I think these sinks look great in a farmhouse style kitchen, but not so much in a more transitional or contemporary space. There are other alternatives that provide as good or better functionality.

I totally agree with @barrowp. If you choose farmhouse sink, make sure it ties together with the overall style of your kitchen including your cabinets style, hardware and faucets . Otherwise it will look mismatched.

My Thermador stainless steel refrigerator shows scratch marks and small dents, permanently. Not a practical surface material for an appliance at $8,000. It's more like a piece of jewelry. I have a white Whitehaus farmer's sink and I love it. It does require attention, though. The sink doesn't pitch toward the center at the drain, and so I have to chase food around to get it to go down the disposal. The bigness of it is great because cookie sheets and big pans fit in completely, as well as big plants, that can be watered and left to dry (as with a potting station). It's fluted and fabulous looking.

A large single stainless sink would do all of the above and I agree that these sinks look best in a farmhouse style kitchen and the front of them is always dirty .

Thank you all. Hadn't thought about the farm sink being able to handle really big big pots and house plants. Since my kitchen is viewable from the living space, I'm inclined to go with a regular sink. Also they are less expensive. But still considering...

Herbeau..........very pretty

My kitchen is more industrial looking and we went with farmhouse sink. It's great because you can hide dirty dishes in it and even the drying rack.
