I have the Hickory Hardware Williamsburg bin pulls and knobs in my new kitchen and love them. I've got the distressed rose gold that compliment an antique sewing machine table that was painted in a similar fashion. It's my island.

My cabinets are Shaker, too, but the drawer fronts are plain. (I can't tell if yours are or not.)

You want to be sure and get a sample of that bin pull in and make sure it's comfortable for your hands. I did, and it was just too shallow for me....I've got weird hand disabilities, so that might be the problem.

This hardware is nice and solid. Very happy I went with it, and very glad I tried different manufacturers until I found what looked (and felt) best.

Beautiful choices but with that said, why choose a backsplash at all? With so many quality paints (or even wallpapers) on the market and unless it is going to be 'the star' of the kitchen you may find you don't need one at all. In other words, as it is a fixed accent (namely promoted by manufacturers and interior designers) choose a colour that will go with your countertop (or something else like your dinnerware/window coverings etc.) ) and live with your kitchen for awhile before making the decision if your heart is set on having one.

Love the splash! How about this crazy idea!? Get just one of each pull, knob etc., attach them with command strips temporarily for a couple days and see which one speaks to you. You can always return the one(s) you don't choose! We will be moving into a new home soon and will be redoing the kitchen. I'm excited about our ideas and love yours. Have not sold myself on white yet though.

I just used white subway tile with hexagon on the floor in 4 bathrooms we are remodeling in an old Victorian house. We used Mapei 01 Alabaster grey grout and it looks incredibly beautiful and timeless. I agree that the glass tiles you selected is a fad that will go out of style quickly. The picture is not great, as we are still busy working on it, but you get the idea.

Thank you, everyone! We have returned the linear tile and pulls. We purchased the black cups and knobs I first pictured. This is the tile we're going with, complimented by a dark grey grout. I think it will bring out the grey and black bits in the counter.

We are building our third home in La Paz Baja California Sur. We are 20 days from occupancy! And tis will be our last home...

The main living area is wide open to the view, and the light can be soft, spectacular and in summer blistering.
I want to keep the feeling of light, space and lack of clutter.

My cupboards are white, the countertops gray to match the floor.
The island is parota wood with a carrera marble top.
My appliances are the "new" stainless. My backsplash is mosaic glass tile in varied grays and whites.
I shopped for knobs and pulls online (Overstock.com)until my eyes were bulging and blurred. I have to pay an additional 36% in shipping and customs, and returns are almost impossible, so shopping online becomes stressful. Imagine saying that shopping is stressful!
I finally decided on a slightly "antiqued" brushed nickel cup. for the kitchen, laundry room and our two studios.
They are not as light as the standard brushed nickel.
You choice of cups is a good one for your sleek cupboards. I love your floor.
The glass mosaic sounds wonderful and will bring light and gentle sparkle to your kitchen.
I have seen a mix of cups for lower cupboards and knobs for upper.
I was watching a Martha Stewart video and her cupboards had the cups.
I am so obsessed with house details that I forget to think about the plot in a movie or TV show and scrutinize the cabinet pulls, lamps, or whatever I am trying to buy for the house.

While most everything is available here, they are expensive, and sometimes not what I want.

Go with the mosaic, go with the cups, and maybe a modern glass knob for the upper cabinets.

I also love your rugs. They may compete with the mosaic, but they are easy to replace.

I do not have a lot of upper cupboards.
the refrigerator is surrounded by a pantry cupboard,so there will be only those two upper cupboards.

Subway tile is boring and as overexposed as granite.

This is your home, do what speaks to you.
BUT, do not get the bar handles, as someone said, they catch on EVERYTHING, and they are overdone as well.

We have the same counters and went with a grey hexagon marble. The grey grout with white tile will have a similar effect and will look really good with the Quartz.

what you bought looks good. however, is there a way you can not add any pulls or knobs. the room looks very clean without them; if the doors and drawers were made with finger pulls, that will work. can you live without any backsplash? if so, i would opt for just leaving the wall as is. it looks very clean that way. if you do decide to stick with the backsplash tile, take it all the way up to the cabinets, much cleaner look that way. and make sure your tile installer knows how to install the see-through tiles. i have seen some that you can see the mud on the wall through the glass.

The splash will go all the way up to the cabinets. Originally I didn't want any pulls, but when the cabinets came in we realized they weren't made to be opened with fingers. I wanted to keep the look clean, but we have to get pulls.

Myself I like the black, your stove is black. And pulling on the knobs all the time, I feel black wouldn't show up as much

I like the black cups and knobs. Maybe a beveled subway tile with dark grout for backsplash.

I do love your changes, especially the backsplash. i do not wish to be rude, but subway has been used so much lately, i feel been there, done that. i think soon it will be radically out of style. Just remember you can always change handles, though I know they are not as cheap as everyone seems to think. If you are a cook, you need to look at comfort, so you want to worry about do they grab your clothes, do they hurt to use? I have turned around and just changed the ones I used most, not all and it did not injure my kitchen style.

I didn't read all of your comments, but my first thought would be to add some red or yellow or orange for your pulls. Your colors lend themselves to a POP! We did mixed reds for the backsplash (our POP!), a marble look, but quartz counters and stainless applieances. We added wood flooring. The walls are gray and the Eurostyle cabinets were stained dark, with a touch of red so they wouldn't look like an office! We decided on a 'twist' Italian brushed nickel handles... some are longer than others. The kitchen is amazing!! Good luck!

Without meaning any offense whatsoever to northgehl, subway tile has been used for over a century, so the chances of it soon being "radically out of style" are pretty low!

I understand that, but it is so in now, a while back you did not see any, now it is every where.

I would go with silver/pewter pulls and knobs. You may get tired of the black and silver is not gonna get dated.. I like your original backsplash, it really adds POP and is very classy... It comes in self stick as well so could be removed easily. Use your accent color to add some color which could be changed seasonally or as you wish...

For a practical consideration, I have found that my white painted cabinets get dirty where I have knobs and don't where I have pulls. Over the long haul, all the opening and closing of the cupboards makes this inevitable. I have knobs on cabinets, pulls on drawers.

Gunmetal hardware. It is dark finish that contrasts the white cabinets and has a metallic sheen that compliments stainless fixtures and darker appliances without being too matchy. Knobs and cup pulls are classic with shaker cabinets. Home Depot and Lowes have a modified beveled subway tile which modernizes a classic shape.

Black pulls and knobs will pull out the black specks in your counter top. I would suggest a gray stone or gray glass subway tile with a black accent piece to tie it all together. In this photo, to the left of the stove, you will see the back splash is going to be a natural stone tile with a black ribbon accent stripe. The knobs on the island are glass to add interest in another area of the room..

I'd go with a chrome finish. Your style seems to be contemporary. The chrome would give your kitchen a little bling and bring out the silvers and grays in your backsplash. I always like cups for drawers. You could do either knobs or pulls for cabinets but I wouldn't mix and match.

I've done 1 kitchen remodel and 1 new kitchen in 4 years. More food for thought. Go with 1 finish on your hardware and mix it up w/ different shapes. Keep knobs or handles on upper cabinets and make sure lower drawers & cabinets get a handle and/or pull that won't catch pockets. If you are considering "aging in place" at this home remember handles and pulls are easier for older hands to grip. At home I did football knobs that I regret because you need to go around with a screwdriver constantly to keep them going in the same direction. Go round (any style) on knobs. I like my brushed nickel on white cabinets at home. In the new kitchen the uppers have round knobs, the drawers have pulls and the lower cabinets have handles all in oil-rubbed bronze on hickory. I thought the 3 shapes where weird at 1st but it works really well.

I love your new tile! Pick a gray colored grout that coordinates with your counter AND matches the color of the grease that will end up behind the stove! Seal, seal and re-seal that grout. There will be a lot of it and if it stains it one section it will be very noticeable.

I have my forever home, here at the beach....I've always been a bit more eclectic, (ok, different)...I have, for my silverware drawer---a knife/fork/spoon cabinet pull...For my drawer of misc kitchen items, a ? pull...for the sharp knives, I have an ! (exclaimation mark). Since I have a "herd" of Roosters (above the cabinets)....I have Rooster switchplate covers --there are soooo many choices of them (my pet-peeve is contractor white switchplate/outlet covers!)

I have 3 of my kitchen drawers w/ the numbers going down 1-2-3 as I am keeping my grandma's tradition of treats for the kids and grandkids in 3rd drawer down....as my 21 y.o. grandson said---wow--you still have a 3rd drawer for treats--and it's got a 3 on it! Easy find grandma! LOL....I have Mermaid pulls/octopus pulls/Seahorse....shells...adults and kids alike are fascinated! (Of course, the switchplate/outlet covers are all beachy throughout the whole house, too!)

Between amazon.com and many other sites---you CAN find the coolest ever pulls and covers! Biggest challenge---choosing the theme....but is so changeable ---just save 'em or share 'em!

I purchased both back splashes from Lowe's!

I used the 1st picture on bottom cabinets and the 2nd for the uppers. I had the towel holder made to match the two. Very happy. It took a lot of looking at different styles to decide. Good luck!

I truly feel you will be happier, and for a longer period of time with the more classic choices for your black splash. While you will get a lot of different opinions of course, and all appreciated, it always comes down to personal taste. I, myself love classic and timeless and while one would think white and light will be boring, adding your bling and pops of color, it will remain classic and timeless and if you get tired of the pops of color, you can easily change them. The hardscapes like tile, not so easy to do. I feel the tile you first had would have out dated sooner than you would hope it to. Best of luck to you and I think you will be very happy with the changes you have made.

I loved the choices you made initially, very nicely coordinated with the counter and cabinets. I think white subway tile is the fad that is going to be going away soon. I wouldn't buy a house which showed so little imagination!

Good choice in the end. Those linear mosaic tiles will be out of style in about five minutes. And I totally agree that backsplashes are not really needed, though I personally like them. And I completely disagree that subway tile is a fad. Hello? New York? And I'm not talking the subways, I'm talking bathrooms and kitchens from the 1920s. 100 years is no fad.

That is preciselywhy I don't like them--they remind me of smelly subways and public restrooms.

I think you have made the correct choices & the kitchen will be a lovely & warm space to be in.

Oil rubbed bronze to add warmth and tie into wood flooring

silver, black or gray....loose the 2 rugs and go with on solid rug with no design, maybe the same color as the end counter

your favorite color(rug)
or bright red would make a splash of color on the floor too

I would recommend modern black bar pulls. They would stand out well and give a modern touch with a classic finish.

I love the new tiles you selected for the backsplash--I agree the original will look dated soon.

However, I REALLY think you should consider those gorgeous marble hexagons. They are beautiful in person--both colorful and neutral at the same time. With your counter--as shown by the other Houzzer-- it would look gorgeous. Also they look both traditional and modern! I have them as a backsplash and LOVE them. Buying new counters soon and will consider your Quartz!

Like I mentioned, it's all personal choice. In the end, it's all up to you. Don't bother with fads, and what s in, go with what you love and one cant go wrong! At least, that's how I look at it.
