Help me date this dresser....

I have an old antique dresser I am getting rid of. I never really cared for it....not my style and the size and shape just does not work for me. I got it from my brother about 15 years ago (freebie). Brother has since passed on and unsure of the vintage. I'm thinking 1920's or 1930's? It has the skeleton key locks on each drawer...I have not seen any manufacturer marks on it any where. I know it is not exactly in pristine condition but thinking maybe someone might want to go to town with some Annie Sloan chalk paint and make it look much better. Everything is functional and it has a matching mirror for the top.

Unsure what to list it for on Craig's List. 50$- 100$???? What do you all think? I just want it out of my house as I have replaced the dresser already.

Your price may be a bit low, considering the matching veneer and mirror. Ask a bit higher and see if anyone bites.

It's got a really nice veneer match on the front.

Somewhere around 1900? Unfortunately stuff like this is not very popular right now.

It's very pretty and would look great refinished. Go on Ebay and look for similar pieces and list the price accordingly. If no takers, go with best offer.

I took a look on CL and it looks like dressers of this era are going for $100-$200. I'll be happy to get anything for it!

Picking on its age... Size.. And actually stating you never really cared for it is going to make it really hard for anyone to help you date it! You should respect and compliment anything you want to date... Especially if you are asking OTHERS to HELP you date it.. I'm just appalled. :( (sad face)

You piece is Empire style. Empire started in the early 1800's, but I'm sure this isn't that old. From the pictures it looks like it is mahogany or walnut. There was a lot of this style built in the 20s and 30s. It's popularity is rising. I'm seeing more come into the shop for repair/refinishing/restoration. Brought back to it's glory, the veneer would be beautiful.

You got it for nothing, you don't like it, so whatever you get is OK. I would advertise it for 150-200 or higher. It is a piece worth refinishing or restoring so you want to price it high enough so the Annie Sloan chalk painters don't want it.

I live in Somerset WI. Sorry to offend anyone- I was just being honest stating that it is NOT my style. I think it is a beautiful piece of furniture.....I just don't care for it.

David at Select Hardwood- I will get dimensions and shoot you an email. I'll clean off the mirror and get a picture of that for you as well.

Oh, too bad, that's too far to come and get it. It would have been great with my other walnut dresser. But I doubt I could pay what it's worth and still afford to have it shipped from Wisconsin.

If it has steel roller ball casters to move it around they say acme on them so my guess is its acme furniture who makes it not sure of the date
