Huge lovely room...like the color. Will you be raising you head board higher up the wall. It shows it sitting on the floor but if your mattress is high the you can attatch you headboard to the wall with a French Cleat and the headboard will be more important in the room. Should be about 54 inche at tallest point?

Do you have a preference for an accent and primary color?

What do you not want in the room?

Are you set on the bench and can you have some seating besides the bench?

Can your add a fireplace, electric wall hung?

Just some ideas to think about.

I love black and white you can add a third color in the rainbow. What pop of color would you like? Yellows are great, so are reds, Pinks give a feminine and romantic look, and just adding greys and silver is very elegant. You already have a silver lamp and a purple cushion on the bed. We can start with that.

I like more white in the bed, so it takes to a third color better. Especially since your headboard and other pieces are in wood. The headboard is not too much of a problem if it's not too high, Euro pillows on the back will cover most of it. Start with purple, then black & white then a combination.

Good work Susan. How did you access those pics? I have a ChromeBook and am having difficulty getting pics to show up; just get the url address and the you have to click on that to go to picture....very annoying.

Of course it's blah silly, you don't have anything in the room. :-) Make a budget and redo the soft goods, new bedding and curtains will be a great start. Can you move the bed to another wall or is this the only option?

Well I'm on a laptop, so what I do is cursor in the website's address at the top, copy then paste in this thread's window...

From a houzz 'story' [I call them articles], the same cursor/copy/paste but at far right where it says LINK: paste there....

Or from another website's address to direct to a product, etc. do the same copy and paste.

I likely wouldn't go so industrial with the 4 modern metal pieces I posted, but I couldn't tell what you liked. It could look nice over your headboard. Whatcha got going today?

your walls are very plain so if you do decide to do a black and white them you should defiantly have an accent color like purple or red (whatever you prefer.) also add some texture maybe a frilly pillow or get a nice blanket. Personally when looking at black and white themed rooms I like when people really use their accent color a lot because it makes the room look bigger and not as plain as just black and white so maybe put your accent color on your sheets or your curtains? hope this helped

Can you post photos of all walls of the room? Since you said it is a very large room I would rather see the head of the bed opposite the entry door, since you do not have a window on each side of the bed now.

That is a spectacular wall behind the bed, but looking at photo, the room looks a little lopsided. I wonder if the bed would be better in between the 2 windows. Are those matching lingerie chests? You might consider then moving the long dresser where the bed is now and put your chaise lounge at an angle facing the tall wall. Much better view for relaxing and admiring your beautiful room. Is there something on the wall opposite the bed (where it is now and you have the chaise facing)? Perhaps a TV? If so you could put it where the dresser is and the chaise in the corner, where I see an iron. Where are your closets and the doorway to the room?

You're making progress but there's more to do. I hope you can return the drapes. They are too short. The ones on the two right side windows should hang right where the wall/ceiling join and the others should hang at that same spot on their wall. They should all kiss the floor. I think they're a bit full too, unless you need to close them at night. I agree with susan2494 that the room will look more balanced with the bed between the two windows and the dresser where the bed is now. If that is a TV setup with the chaise and the cabinet in the right foreground corner, simply turn the chaise so it is in front of the window and put the TV vignette where you now have the dresser. Add a big rug under the bottom 1/3 of the bed and lower a chandelier into the living space, and you just have to find some wall decor. Consider a trio of mirrors above the bed.

I live in Florida and every room has a ceiling fan. I replaced the one in the living room and my bedroom with a chandelier. They might help a little with the heating/a/c bill, but the joy I get when in those rooms and the impact that they make far out-weighs the small price I pay in A/C. I bought a Murano glass chandelier in Venice Italy and I have used it in my dining area and now it hangs in my bedroom. I love it. Look at some photos of bedroom chandeliers and choose one to hang in your bedroom. You will not be disappointed.

Love the Bed set. Where did you get it from? I have a similar bedroom setup but my room is dormered cape so the ceiling isn't high. I think once I learn how, I will make my own post hre so I don't high jack yours :)

I also think that you have the wrong curtains, and that they should be hung as described above, all at the same height. I think there is alot of red curtain and my mind cannot decide if red is thedominant color or black or grey or white. It has been written for color, 60 per cent dominant, 30 percent secondary, and 10 per cent accent color. That being said I think the room should only be black and white, excepting the wall color and that the curtains should be simple white with a black tape accent edge. And the bed should be between the windows with the rest of the items 'framing' the bed area. My two cents and the picture above to give you an idea of what I mean. I know the head board is white upholstery in the pic, but your dark wood bed is beautiful and reads as black. Try the new arrangement as quoted above and see what you think?

PS: When you move the bed around place the nightstands 2 inches from the bed on either side. Read in HGTY that is what Vern Yip suggests for correct night stand placement. See how you like it?

Quick question. If the only way to have a night table on both sides of the bed is to put the bed in front of a window, do you just put it on another wall and only have one side have a night table?

suggest the bed be placed between the windows. The drape changes will be an improvement. mirrors over the bed are poor fung shui.

on second thought, could I gently suggest that before you invest another penny in this room, that you get a designer and follow their direction.

A ready-to-install wall moulding kit would look pretty (see below). More interest could be added by painting inside each piece of framed moulding in a complementary paint colour. Sconces (see suggestion via link below) could be hung in the narrower panels flanking the bed and use a smaller nightstand so the bed can be centered on the wall. All the best! :)
