Help! I have an older home (1852) and will be repainting the entire home (now it is in golds and maroons) to white. My friend who has very good design taste said black laminate, but I'm wondering if that will be too harsh with all the white (I have a butcher block island and white appliances and nickel hanging lights. There's a south facing patio door, window above the sink (I"m putting in a farm sink) and doorways on either side to the back hall/mudroom and dining room...help!
