If you go with them, get double-tier. Much more versatile.

I agree with mrsstem, I like 3/4 and 1/4. You can keep lower closed and keep upper and there is privacy from the street.

Would the rooms be dark, even if they are open? I definitely would want the top portion to operate separately from the bottom. Great suggestion. Thanks for all the input.

Thank you mrsstem. That is a big concern of mine. My last home, even with 47 windows, always felt too dark to me. Living in the Central Valley in California, heat and sun is always an issue. We had sunscreens on all our east and west facing windows. It screened the sun a little too much for my preference. The new house has far fewer windows. I'm determined for it to not feel like a cave and I don't want to have to keep lights on during the day.

I dislike them so much I find them heavy and dark and blocking views most of my clients have now removed them because of the issues there are so many more attractive window coverings to get and also usually less money. I love light in my space and I also want to see out unobstructed .

To each his own, but I have them and I love them. They are clean and neat, easy to dust, and I can adjust the light coming in. If I really want a lot of light, I just open them up. I can't stand dust-catching draperies, but that's just me.

I love them but have only the ones for the bottom half of the windows as I love a lot of light. Expensive but classic.
