Dang, you know, I hadn't thought about painting that wall in the "cave" behind the dresser a different color. I could get away with that, I think. I really have to see if I can get DH's big digital camera working this weekend and post a picture. It's too hard to explain how weird it is.

If you love the hawthorne yellow, then go for it. I don't see that it would be so terrible with the lithos. If it makes you happy, go for it. If you don't like it, you can always move the lithos to the DR as you suggested, but do it in the future. No need to pack away the things you love.

What, exactly, is the paint color doing to the lithos? Is it making them look faded? Is it making the green seem more brown? I think there is still a yellow out there in the world for you.

I was thinking the same thing as JLC, an accent wall may be a good way to avoid having to choose.

Paint your bedroom Hawthorne Yellow. Ours was painted that color in 2005 and we have no plans to ever change it. It's a happy, wonderful room!

It's hard to describe but the background in the lithos is a chameleon. On a cream wall, the background appears a warm goldish-yellow. On a yellow wall, it looks very peach. I'm not a peachy person :-)

Anyway, it looks like the majority vote is paint it and figure out the finer details later LOL.

The Hawthorne Yellow really brightens up the two walls in the cave, especially behind the dresser. I was quite (pleasantly) surprised!

I also have a Hawthorne yellow bedroom (and kitchen cabinets). It is so cheerful of a color and I love waking up to it!
