What kind of Mango did it come from? The small dwarf Manila types or big commercial Mangoes like Haden?
Will it be grown only potted? You might tip prune- it wouldn't hurt anything. Here on Web,their are growers who cut a plant like that in half..getting a bushy potted tree as results.

It's pretty well up to how you want it shaped. They can take anything up to a heavy pruning.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure what type of Mango it is. I have a fully mature tree on the other side of my house. I was just doing this to see if I could and was pleased with the results.

Search youtube for "campbell mango tipping". A few cultivars (condo mangos) can be easily grown in containers. Most need more room.
