Kitchen layout help

We are in the process of a major kitchen reno - attached is a pic of the proposed layout - our goal was to open it up to the rest of the house as well as adding a large island / peninsula for work space and sitting space. One of the contractors concerns is that we wanted to side by side wall ovens with about 42" counter top to help open the space - but directly across from it is the powder room (and also a view of den and front door where much of the light comes from in the morning).

He wants to close off the wall with a double (stacked) oven next to the fridge.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. one of our limitations is the small wall on the right - has main drain and plumbing stacks in it - so we were trying to figure out a way to incorporate the wall into the design. We have 2 people cooking in it more than 75% of the time - so space and multiple works areas are also a need. Our contractor has his kitchen designer working on alternate designs.

HI -- Yes, it does make things difficult . The part that I think is very wrong is that extra section in the middle . And I think you have also fallen in love with some features you have seen and liked the look of and want to put in yours even if you don't have the room.... everybody does this , I know ! Keep at it and all of a sudden it will work out !

Could you be a bit more specific about the concerns with the middle section (peninsula I guess) - I realize that it forms a G or J shaped kitchen so only one area to enter and exit from. The previous kitchen was approx 3' narrower and had an island with only 3' between it and the sink which created a huge bottle neck.

Do you think if we were able to open a walkway in the small wall and create a large island would create better flow?

It seems to me that the location of the side by side ovens is what is constricting the space.
If the refrigerator opens to the right, then that counter space above the ovens is not much use. You are better off putting vertical stacked ovens and freeing up some space. With the side by side arrangement, if you have a person seated at the kitchen counter, you will not be able to access the oven.
The other option is to move the ovens to under the counters on the section with the cooktop
and build a wall right after the refrigerator thus opening up the space.

Thanks for the input so far. I will attach pics of the construction shortly. After various plans and layouts, our designer recommended we stick with the original design of the side by side ovens. We had a few constraints on the ovens in other locations. Hopefully we made the right choice. We've been in our old kitchen for approx 8 years, so we know what we didn't like. Hopefully we haven't created too many new "don't likes"...

This is the before. Only 3' from sink to island.

New space - kitchen widened approx 3' and we eliminated the wall that was next to and behind the fridge in the previous pic...
