I have Carrera marble vanity tops and porcelain tile that looks like Carrera for floor and shower. Everyone thinks the entire bathroom is marble. Porcelain is less expensive and easier to care for. Also no slipping on marble floors.

Tiler said shower is a bad place for marble since it dis- colors and etches marble. No problem with counters with some care to keep product spills off the counters. Love the overall result and its cost.

A good contractor is worth his or her weight in gold. Make sure you take care to keep a good relationship with your contractor because you have a good one.

leeweber, what kind of porcelain tile did you use for your shower? Did you used honed or polished? Can you provide pictures? I'm building a new home and looking for some good quality porcelain tile that looks like carrara marble. Thx!

We ended up using SuperWhite (natural stone) - It looks like marble but has been holding up great. We have spilled wine/ ketchup, have 3 small children and are happy so far. We put it in our kitchen and in master bath and actually mixed it with marble (backsplash and floor)
