Your favorite Zone 10 peach varieties

What are your favorite zone 10 peach varieties?

Dave Wilson's tool lists all of the zone 10 peaches they sell. I can assume that all of the zaiger varieties made it in to the DWN proprietary taste tests, but who knows which of the non-Zaiger varieties were ever offered up for testing. In any case, don'tcha just love their data-laden website and geeky tools?

According to DWN, the following are NOT an option for zone 10 because they are maximum zone 9. Harken, Indian Free, July (Kim) Elberta, June Gold, Loring, O'Henry, Snow Beauty, Sugar May, Suncrest, Arctic Supreme, Flordaking, Fortyniner, Gold Dust, Halehaven...are all max zone 9. And Kaweah is not yet zoned.

Here are all of the the zone 10 peaches that Dave Wilson sells. I want to hear your feedback on them, and any of any varieties that are not listed. As well as the tree distributors other than DWN you recommend looking at.

August Pride, Bonanza, Babcock*, Bonita*, Desert Gold, Donut (aka Stark Saturn), Earligrande, Early Amber, Eva's Pride, Flordaprince, May Pride, Mid-Pride, Red Baron, Santa Barbara, Sweet Bagel (latest), Tropic Snow*.

Because of the harvest sequence, it makes the most sense to compare:

  • Desert Gold, Flordaprince, May Pride and Earligrande.

  • Early Amber, Tropic Snow, and Bonanza

  • Eva's Pride vs Donut (aka Stark Saturn)

  • Babcock, Mid-Pride, Saturn

  • Saturn, Red Baron, Bonita (mid/late July Harvest) and August Pride
