Jade Propagation!

last modified: 10 years ago

I was given some leaves in an attempt to start some Jade plants. I read to let the leaves form a callous prior to potting - some I left as a leaf on top of the soil & some I planted leaf end down in the soil.

A few questions - the larger leaves on the right were "planted" but seemed to be wrinkling & not rooting so I pulled them & laid them on the soil. Will they grow now or are they worthless?

The smaller leaf (close-up of the leaves on left) was always on top of the soil & now has a little rosette type growth from the leaf end. Is this the new plant forming? If so, how to I plant this? Will it grow roots in its own or do I plant it with that little growth in the soil?

Thanks! I'm excited to have these little guys.

(In a warm windowsill, "succulent" soil, only watered with medicine dropper when soil is dry...I've had them maybe 4 weeks...)
