If you want to use it for excerise then an endless pool would be great. You can burn a mega amount of calories painlessly.

Pool only. I really don't understand this hot tub idea..sitting in hot water with a bunch of people

I enjoy our hot tub. My husband and I are the only ones who use it. We live in a very secluded area in northern Alberta, Canada. This last month we have had some beautiful displays of the Northern Lights. We often use our hot tub late at night, usually after midnight and can see the clearest, starry nights. They are breathtaking. We use our hot tub year round....even when the temperature is in the minus 30's.

Pools are nice, but I think for our climate, we would be limited to using it for only a small portion of the year.

For my own home, I would want a hot tub. I think the maintenance and energy requirements are less, it can be used year-round, and can be put close to the house without eating a lot of space.

More importantly, it isn't deemed as a hazard here, while a pool means more risks and higher insurance.

Nobody would be using it other than my husband and myself, anyway. We had pools in The tropics and loved them, but now in the US, a hot tub seems more practical.

my best friend spent $20000 on a hot tub and hated it. Hard to keep clean and she found sitting in hot water was just disgusting. She loves her pool though.

Owning a pool and a hot tub both have their benefits! Like netschwester said, a pool is a great way to get an exercise without the harsh impact on your body. We also agree with roxsol's comment, that owning a hot tub is great because it can be used throughout the year. It also can depend on the customer's preference, convenience and geographic location to accommodate their aquatic needs.

However if you are unsure about owning a hot tub, we invite you to read our blog: Hot Spring Hot Tub Benefits

I have both and everyone loves both. In my climate, Oklahoma, the swimming season is short but we have 100 degree weeks. The pool is wonderful in summer. The hot tub delights everyone for 3 seasons. And you can have great conversations under the stars and moon. Sometimes we see a pair of owls late at night. In the evenings we watch different species fly to their roosts. And if you are quiet and still the hummingbird often cruises by. Do fence it if there are children to be concerned about.
