Why does my kitty suddenly smell so bad?

My kitty has started smelling bad this week. He smells like sh*t, literally. He appears to be otherwise healthy and happy and bathing (it's hard to tell for sure if he's eating and using the litter box appropriately because we have multiple kitties but it seems like he has the usual good habits in those areas). Any advice on why this is happening and/or what to do about it?

See if you can identify the part of his body from which the odor is emanating. If it's coming from his mouth, it could be a serious dental infection or even end-stage kidney disease. If it's coming from his rear end, it could be diarrhea or impacted or infected anal glands.If it's coming from his ears, it could be a nasty ear infection. If it's coming from somewhere else, he might have an infected wound that you haven't noticed. In any event, your cat needs to see a vet ASAP for diagnosis and treatment.
