We have a small bathroom that has no skylights or windows. The walls and ceiling is moldy with mildew. The plan is to completely remodel the whole room by taking the bathtub out and put in a shower. There is no outside walls for this room as this bathroom is in the center of the house. What can we do for brighter lighting and make the room appear bigger?

I'd put in a more powerful exhaust fan with a light. Then add a bright LED light fixture on the ceiling and either an over-mirror light or two side lights next to the mirror.
