Both are beautiful. But I too would go with the deeper purple.

The deeper color matches better but I prefer the color of the lighter purple one better.

I love the sofa in the pic but would not hang the paintings above it as I think you need some relief from all the purple on one wall.

The next problem is the large and awkward room shape the right room is the first room seen at entry stairs. The left room is where the purple velvet sofa and swivel chairs will face the wall TV and fireplace. I'm unsure of ideal seating arrangement for this room. Houzzers what do you think?

It's interesting having the room on the diagonal. I'd be interested to see pics after you move furniture in.

My best friend and I disagree immensely on the color purple. She absolutely hates it but I think deep purple is beautiful! I vote for the deepest purple!

Houzzers, thank you for your input thus far. It has been much appreciated and helpful!!! The next dilemma is the carpet. My husband requested a Persian rug and since my I am Persian it sounded like a good idea. After searching for rugs I found these options to be the most compatible with the purple color scheme which has morphed from my eyeshadow pallet. Of the Persian rugs viewed, I found Kashmar rugs to be most unique, looking close versus far away you get a completely different perspective. I am torn between #2 and #4 they all seem a little busy close up but in a big screen they look better. Houzzers, am I going on a gaudy trail? Which one of these rug combinations has the best color balance, yet offers a playful fun feel?:

They are so similar, but all of them feel very dark. Wondering if you were open to Oushak rugs from Turkey. Your accent colors could then be cream, mauve, grey and blue or touches of black and I would accent with brass. It's a soft color scheme, but perhaps that's not what you are looking for.

I'm so happy you like the lighter colors and their subtle pattern; your room is going to be beautiful! I'm so jealous; if I was younger and able to pick my furniture all over again, a puple couch would be my choice. My very first couch was a deep blue velvet and I kept it for over 25 years - now have cream - became too conservative.

you cant go wrong with purple sofas! I'm on my third one but am having trouble with a color pallette.

I think the persian rugs with the pink are a little too gaudy for my taste.

The much fuller and darker purple velvet matches almost exactly but thinot sure if it is too much.

I like them better than the purple. They look barely wide enough for your window. The length is too long, even for puddling.

The gold definitely looks better. Have you considered though going even a little lighter such as raw silk curtains in taupe, light grey, or champagne? Not only would that make the room look a little less heavy but it would also work well with the lighter Turkish rug if you go that way. As far as the width of curtains I think the formula is that they should be twice the width of the window, so if you had a 50 inch window your curtain width (when totaled) should be at least 100 inches (so 50 inch per panel if you are using two panels). You'd be surprised what a difference it makes visually. Best of luck and i love the dark purple couch (and I generally don't even like purple!)

Your room looks great and I think the lighter drapes look better. I would still reccommend a lighter rug for your space. The dark rug is too busy and too heavy. This would look fabulous...and it's super soft!:

I am starting to think the velvet curtains look to heavy as mentioned above. Note: my comment was garbled above - I love the art/persian rug/sofa combo - the colors in person go very well together. But the curtains are troubling me - the gold is too long and narrow and the purple is too dark and heavy. I would like to try raw silk curtains in champagne, gold or even a shimmery purple that I hope will work with these tiebacks. Anyone knows of a good source for french-pleat raw silk curtains?

luv the purple sofa! I would not be able to choose between dark vs light until I knew the carpet color. The Persian red/purple mix is just too much color. Your eyeballs need some relief. Curtains, I would hang them higher, just a few inches below the ceiling and go with something as close to your chosen wall color as you can get and paint out the window trim the same color as the wall and as far as fabric choice I would choose something soft and subtle, velvet is a bit too heavy with the other elements.

I would need to add a strong note of contrast in this space. Something rustic, possibly bringing in an element from other spaces in your home. So that this room tied in with the whole. Pink velvet couch and rustic end table.

I don't know if these are your style but have you considered a large scale geometric print rug, gray, green, animal print and every room needs black.

I think a clear glass coffee table with brass or gold legs would look good in your space and lighten it up. It feels heavy to me. I'd switch the curtains for something like raw silk or linen in a lighter color and then I'd paint the walls something light with less golden / yellow undertones, maybe a greige, and I'd paint the trim to match. Your inspiration wall had a color that wasn't so yellow. For me, white trim is just popping out too much. It looks like you went from more modern to more traditional, maybe you changed your mind?

I'm half Persian myself so I'm also struggling with how to use my nice rugs in our space. Funny enough, I have a blue velvet couch!

What software are you using to stitch these images together? I'd love to do the same for my remodel/redesign project too. Thx!
